Thread: spawn idea

Accually I've noticed the same thing on Sunrunner. On endor, or Dath (I've not been to Yavin yet) I've got spawns up the wazoo, but of corellia, there are big expanses, yet critters seem to like my harvs. I've even seen others comment about there are always mobs around their harvs. I should have them placed late tonight or tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing if this works.

You are right about the high traffic area idea. But there is a part you are missing. A planet that has absolutely no PC on it will not be devoid of spawns, it will have it's spawn spread out across the planet uniformly. Think of it as each planet only being allowed to have a certain number of spawns at any given time. The wild spawncalculations take into consideration how many people are in a given area and migrates a greater number of spawns to that location. This is why you find hardly anything out in the wilds of Dantooine and Corellia. Yavin IV on the other hand, was always considered a joke of a planet and nobody ever really went to. So you'll find wild spawns everywhere you go there. With the GeonosianLab the wild spawns have thinned out only slightly, since it's not all that busy there.

Actually JustG's State of the Game does list "Increase the amount and frequency of MOB Spawns" as a planned feature for Publish 8.

Thus the point of my expierement. If we are able to "Migrate" some of the spawns back out to the wilderness areas of the Corellia plains, we have a better chance of getting a Great Plains Stalker to spawn. To most effectively do this, we need to focus on an area. A small house and a couple harv's gives an area to visit and will "Encourage" the spawns to migrate back out.

OK, in my hunts for the great plains Stalkers, I have noticed the great expanses that do not have any spawns at all. Then, I come upon a group of harvs and I have spawns, or I come across the path folks drive between towns and I have spawns. I also remember another CH who said he camped a little while in an area to help encourage spawns.

So here is my idea. I think one of the factors in creatures spawning is traffic. In areas where there is somewhat regular traffic, there are spawns, in other areas there are not, this would be a advantage to the server as it has areas where it does not have to control things and thus less overhead.

So, here is my plan. I'm going to setup a house and two harvs out in a desolate area with no spawns. After I set it up, I'll post the coords here. I'm going to ask my guild and any CH on sunrunner to go and "Visit" this "Habitat" for a minute or two and move on. this would increase traffic to the area and possibly increase spawns of the big cat.

Both spawns I've seen of it have been near harvs. this enforces my theories. Please let me know if you'd be willing to help in this endeavor by just taking a little trip out.

If this works, we could use the same technique and apply it to other rare spawns.

If I was on SunRunner, sure. Heck, if it works, I'll try the same thing on Bria.

The only flaw in your logic (and this may just be a Bria thing, too) seems to be Yavin IV. Every single time that I go there I am swamped in critters. In the 8 kliks it takes to go to my favourite mountain, I'll end up spending around 20 hours of game time, because at every turn there is something to kill and/or avoid. It's wonderful.

However, on "populated" planets, you have a very solid theory. I always find tuskies or spineflap soldiers around my harvesters on Rori or Naboo, not to mention squills by the gallon on Tat.

Good Plan, what are the coords?
I am going to try a similar experiment on Gorath, in reading this it dawned on me that when traveling from Coronet to my friends house (not in a PC) that once i get there it and the couple other houses are completely surrounded by MOBs. And when I first started the Game I was contemplating being a weaponsmith, but going through the gauntlet to get to my harvesters got old fast. So I went CH/Pistoleer. I will post my Gorath coords as soon as I have the harvester placed.

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.

Didn't work... put it out where there was nothing, checked it for 4 days and still...nothing.

the habitat is up at I believe -142 610. I might have the negative reversed.. I'll double check when I get home.

When it was placed a couple days ago, there were no spawns in the area. now there are four spawn points nearby that produce various spawns. I am in process of a lot trade and will drop 10 more harvs in the area and see if that helps. I apologize for not posting the coords sooner...

If you are on Sunrunner, please drop by, currently there is a house and two chem harvs and soon to add 10 more harvs to the area.

So far it has been a minor success. I'll verify the coords and re-post when I get home.

OK the coords are 142 -610.

If you are on Sunrunner, please "Drive" by and we'll see what we can do for traffic increases
