Thread: Positive thoughts
You have totally missed the mark. The whining as you so abruptly put it is not that we cannot do things. The whining is that we do not need CH to do things. I have been MP and MCH at the same time. There is little I can't do PvE with 74% kinetic resist armor, Good Buffs, Some Muon and the right Foods. So when you say you can do more because of it you are actually doing less. Your wife does more than you I am certain. Soloing is the only way a CH survives because there is always some idiot chasing the mobs when the pet runs. That same idiot gets killed because when I type /tellpet follow to pull them back to me they get the agro. It should hurt to be stupid. It should not hurt to be CH. Take one of your tamed from the wild graul and find one single graul of the same kind. Fight them watch which one wins without any intervention from yourself 90% of the time.
If you enjoy your experience, so be it. But do not second guess those of us who have been at it longer and have problems with the combat rebalance being placed on the shelves. We want back in the GCW. Since our pets stop attacking when we incap it is with great animosity that we believe our pets should have damage mitigation in PvP and be stronger. We should also have greater Range for controlling our pets since for many of us they are the only real weapons we have.
We are dead in PvP pure and simple. We have no stacking modifiers for PvP. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure that out. Until the combat reblance comes it is hard for us to ask for real combat changes. Any combat changes I want are totally towards the PvP experience. If I must be a PvE character by definition then it would seem that people should be either PvP or PvE. Which would make my pets more Uber in PvP in the long run. You want to use a blaster, Fine, take more kinetic Damage. You want to use Kinetic, Take more blaster. Armor should be nerfed to have only one Uber stat the rest low and one justaposed vulnerable stat.
Pure and simple something is wrong with CH, you cannot see it thats cool. Go play in the GCW then come back and talk to the grown ups.
Galacium,
I can relate. I am no big bad tuff guy but am close to MCH and MC and find it an entertaining combo. When I check out the carb board there is much the same, It seem like every profession wants some advantage. It must be a nightmare for the devs to try to respond fairly. It would take the wisdom of Solomon. Sometimes it seems like players forget it is a game. It gets too personal.
I've had a crashing bug with windows XP updates that is pretty annoying. I can start with a pretty doable giant angler mission and end up in the cloner, But it is a game. Not my real life.
Personally a good challenge is what makes it enjoyable. I reports bugs as they happen and three days ago my hunting buddy and I actually had a csr apologize to us. So I am not going to get twisted up about it.

I completely agree with the original poster. You won't find me complaining about lack of content, excessive bugs, extreme balance problems, complete absence of customer support, lag issues, items poofing, out of control decay, or anything of that manner. It's just not the type of guy I am. I like to remain positive and hope for the best. That is why you won't see me mentioning that the devs don't play anymore and that might contribute to most of the problems ingame.
I hear you marxo. The game has issues, plenty of them, but some folks will find fault with anything and everything. I've surevayed many of the different forums here. Almost all of them are about half whining about their profession, many talk about how folks should give up and become TKA or Bounty Hunter or Creature Handler. HA! Go to those forums and see posts how they should give up and become Pistoleers and Rifleman, go to those and find....same thing everywhere (except for TKA, thay seem happy with a few exceptions). Everyone wants to be better or as good as everyone else. Has anyone got any idea how hard it would be to make 32 classes just as good as eachother yet be distinctly different?
Bugs are another matter. They need fixing. I seem to have many less problems with them than others. I've got a cable modem, 1Gig of ram (absolutely vital!!!), and a farily new computer. I've got all my drivers up to date and apparently don't have any incombatable hardware. So I'm lucky, clearly others are having more issues in the technical department. SOE realy needs to clean that up. But I've no issue with people upset about actual program bugs. ITs the folks complaining about thier class parameters I don't understand.
CGW issues: Actualy I've done it on a few occasions and I do just fine, and I know others who do just fine as well. I use a little somethign I like to call tactics. I'm not saying you don't but clearly yours havn't worked out for you. Can I take out template masters in full armor and buffs? Usualy not by myself, no. But beain a master Droid Engineer I don't realy expect to. Perhaps when I get back to my combat template I'll stand a chance against those guys. But I can take mid level folks like myself, and have dropped some hard core folks on occasion when their medics are not paying attention. I rarely end up at the cloning center unless in PVP, if losing I just run off and let my pets take the heat for me. Then I come back with new pets a minute later.
Tanking with armor: Look, any class, be they TKA or Architect can tank with 80% composite, full buffs, and food+drink. The fact I can tank just as well with no armor, no buffs, crappy stats, and no food or drink, says something about master CH. You want to be better than everyone else? Thats what it sounds like to me.
Galacium ur on gorrath right? cause you sound exacly like this really nice guy who helped me catch my very first pet.... and if it is you im proud to report that i am now MCH =D....
Now I know what I merely suspect before. No CH solo's bull rancors. NONE. TKM they Solo, Tank and kill Bull rancors. You are either out of touch, or something is fishy.

I think you are the one who is out of touch Pluto. I can solo a bull rankor rather easily. I have to be careful not to get it to agro on me and if it does I need a plan of escape (speeder or burst run). But so long as it my pet sticks to it which is most of the time, I can take it down just fine. My best pet loses about half their ham fighting one. Mind you I do shoot at the thing myself. I have novice pistoleer and health shot 2 is a great supliment for CH. Not sure if my top pet could take one by its self. It would be close. Ironside has light armor 60% kin and 550 damage good speed and accuracy and poison and disease specials. Very simmilar in fact a little better than a typical bull. I've had him tank two Ancient Bull Rancors when myself and my wifes rifleman took them down. He nearly dropped on that occasion, but as of yet he has never lost vitality.
Dont forget you can also enbolden and heal your pet, it does help, especialy healing them. I have novice medic at the moment which is nice since I can heal him with pet stimms and normal stimms at the same time if I want to although usualy during the fitght I try to stay at a safe distance.
Other tips.
Get a nice land speeder, and drive around in that while the pets follow. When you think there are too many MOBs for your pet to handle drive up to one in the speeder and wait for it to agro on you. Then drive away from the lair or spawn point for a bit, then tell the pet to attack once it is out of social range with its friends, then hop out of the speader and do whatever it is you do to help your pet.
It's easy to get creamed if you are sloppy, but if you think smart and learn ways to keep your pet agroed up things are easy. BTW something I've come to learn with faster pets (birds cats) is that if a mob runs, and other mobs are on your pet, if you call him back and he gets away from the mobs they are likely to switch agro to you, so you will want ot re train him on one of the healty critters and go after the fleeing wounded one yourself. Also I noticed that mountains and hills are very likely to cause your pet and the mob to go running all over creation trying to position themselves. I find hunting on dathomir more dangerous than usual for that reason.
