Thread: Additional Pets since release?
Welcome to the game! To answer your question - yes. The mounts are relatively new. The introduction of vehicles certainly took the shine off that apple, though mounts may regain some popularity when people actually have to start paying for maintenence on their vehicles. The last patchalso brought in some new creatures - some of which actually have babies that can be tamed. It's believed that thereare even some very nice rare pets out there now.I say "believed" becausethey are so rare that most of us have only seen them in screen shots.
I, personally, think the rares are a myth and the screenshots faked, and the people who believe in them are the same people who believe that the world is round and that we actually sent a man to themoon ![]()
It's not constant or often but they do add creatures every now and again.
So far, they haven't really added anything new in the sense of a new species or animal type, They've taken some of the existing models and changed some of the stats around and then gave them a different name.
They also brought back some of the extinct pets for tame (i.e. Merek Death's Head and the Arachne Widow and Gaping Spider Queen, whichare now labeled as 'rare.'
So far, they've not introduced anything that would make you stop and say, "Wow, I've never seen anything like that before!" it's more like "Wow, it looks just like a bigger version that!"
The one major addition is recent months is that BE'd Kimogolas are at long last Tameable and Callable, but have nowhere near the statsas their pre-patch counterparts.
It's still a very fun and exciting profession but you won't be making any historical creature discoveries anytime soon.
I think CH specific Quests would be ideal with the Rewards being randomly selected, highly unique pets we can show around town or place in our houses like Loot Items.
One major change that wasnt mentioned, and this was in the last update, is that babies are now yellow dots and non aggressive. I have tamed several rancor babies since update and not once have they aggroed on me. The yellow dots also makes it easier to see babies as I drive by lairs making those random searches much more productive now.

Just an update on those yellow babies:
Although they are not aggressive initially, if you fail in taming it, you still run the risk of the babyAggroing you. So, if the baby you are attempting to tame is from an Aggressive Species, even though it is yellow, it still may attack you if you fail to tame it.
As for the Mob issue, I am not sure yet. I was taming a Gaping Spider Recluse Baby last night and it attacked me when I failed the first attempt but the adults did not. I don't know if I was just lucky, or if adults no longer Mob on Failed Tame Attempts.
