Thread: Problems with mounts for Non-Chs --need advice/help

I really would like to hear an update from Vert on this one. The reason being is this: I have been requested by a couple of Non-CHs to get them a lvl 10 mount. I've been a CH from the get-go, meaning that I retrieved mounts for Non-CHs under the "old" rules and regulations. I actually quit SWG in October of 2003 and rejoined in Jan 2004 to see what had changed. Well, I discovered that dewbacks were no longer usable as mounts for non-chs, but now they had to have "lesser" dewbacks. Well, my previous method for obtaining mounts was basically to hit the mission terms and get missions for dewbacks, brackasets, carrrion spats, G. Carrion spats, etc.... I spent AT LEAST a 24 solid hour period trying to get missions for the list of Non-CH pest lists by Vert's Creature Handling guide 2.1 that he lists in this forum. He listed the following creatures as mounts for Non-Ch and I quote :

"Anyone can own and use a mount (if they have enough skill to control it as a pet), but only a Creature Handler with the Group Management IV skill can teach it the "Mount" command. Non-CHs are limited to creature pets CL 10 and below, but fortunately each currently mountable species has such a variant in the wild (lesser dewbacks, lesser plains bols, motley kaadu, carrion spats, plodding falumpasets, and lowland brackasets).".

I have tried in vain for 9 days to obtain these mounts listed in parenetheses. To be specific, I tried to get missions for carrion spats, G. carrion spats, lesser dewbacks, motley kaadu, and lowland brackasets. Of those listed, I have only SUCCESSFULLY been able to locate via missions OR random searching in the wilderness lowland brackasets. The lowland brackasets that I have tamed are cl lvl10. They are now at 75% growth and I STILL CANNOT tame them as mounts. My question is (and by the way, I am currently a Master CH) has anyone since Dec been able to successfully find or train the animals listed SUCCESSFULLY for a Non-Ch. If so, what variant did you tame and where. I now have 2 lowland brackasets that are NOT trainable as mounts. I have yet to locate any of the other types listed by Vert successfully. I USED to be able to find missions pre-November CH nerf for lesser dewbacks, carrion spats and GCS. now, I can now find any randomly or via mission terms.

I would appreciate any insight or experience in this matter from you Master CHs or from Vert.

Thanks to any who respond!!!

Cruising between cities on Tatooine and checking out every lair should get you a lesser dewback. At least it did me and lots of other pets too.

as i understand it non ch can hand there high lvl pets in to a ch trainer .and get a eqeverlent lvl pet back with the same commands that it had . eg if he hands in a lvl 15 pet he will get a pet back lvl 10 with what ever commands it was trained with including mount . but this does not work with bio made pets

It's been a week or so since I looked for non ch mounts, but lesser bols are still kicking around on dant. Or where a week ago.

Ok, I have the answers.

1. There are lesser bols everywhere on Dant, namely by the starports and within 1500m.

2. Brakesets are easy to find on Dath.

3. Carrion Spats on Corellia...

Supposedly, you can saddle train all creatures at CL 6. Not true, but for each species there is a CL that works consistantly. I think the lesser Bols have to be full grown, I think the Carrion Spats can be CL 6.... The lesser Bols are so easy to find, you truly can go out and get 2 or 3 in any 15 minute session you choose.

I live near Theed and know every square inch around there and within 4km from surveying. That kaduu lives elsewhere. Go to SWGcreatures.com to get more sightings.

Remember, a non CH can only control non aggro creatures.. those that show up red on the radar screen. The taming tissues do not help.

This is not a very big market. The non CH's have bikes. I prefer to have both cause you can run in someone house to get a mount, a bike is a bigger challenge.

Can someone tell me the best mount for fighting for a non CH and where to get it. Also as non Ch cant control creatures over level 10(correct me if im wrong) will a creature stop advancing once it reachs level 10?

I appreciate all of the responses...but here's part of my original question: I have 2 lowland brackasets with cl level 10. They are 7 of 10 on growth...why can't I train them as mounts now...the magic number is supposed to be approximately 50% of their full growth...it's now almost 75%, yet I still can't train them as mounts...sounds to me that 1) Either Lowland brackasets AREN'T mountable or 2) Some mounts at least are screwed up. Now, my "normal" brackasets work just fine. It just seems to be the Non-CH mounts that are not working...any thoughts on this one guys?

I've never, since mounts began, EVER had to wait until the creature was full grown to train it as a mount, so I don't believe that the previous response is my answer. Heck, I've never waited over 60% growth to train...I just don't believe that I haven't hit the "magic number" yet....maybe I'm wrong, but we'll see..

9 days ago, I had aMCH tame a Giant Carrion Spat Baby as a mount for me, stopped it's growth at lvl 7 and as he tried to transfer the mount, message appeared..."That I was controlling too many pets". I have in my datapad a swoop bike and a surgical droid. As it was explained to me by another MCH...i could have in my datapad...3 droids and 2 pets.My MCH friend has been very patient with holding on to the mount for me, in the span of 9 days..he has tried on different days, a total of 6 times, believing that I may have been bugged, to transfer the mount to me with no success. Is it because the Giant Carrion is too ferocious as a mount for a non ch?

I would really appreciate someone shedding some light on this subject. Thanks in advance

Thanks for all the responses...my lowland brackasets FINALLY at 9/10 became mountable...yeh! I was hoping that the devs hadn't screwed us again.. There still is an issue with the mission terminals not providing any missions for a lot of the non-ch mounts. I had another Master CH that I ran into at Coronet to try and pull spat missions, which he had done before. Nada. He got nothing and he thought it was a bug, much like I do. So if anyone figures out how to pull those or lesser dewback missions from the terminals, please post.

Thanks again for the help.
