Everyone knows how difficult it is on Talus and the other starter planets these days. The other day, I dropped by Talus in order to access my safe deposit box. Long story short, I had a quest in progress and decided to finish it. At one point, it led me to a POI on Talus, a Rebel Weapons Depot.
I was rather amazed to discover abundant wildlife at an assortment of combat levels. After finishing the quest, I went back and found exactly the same situation. Several static spawns and lairs within 500m or so and lairs that would spawn new lairs when the old were destroyed.
I knew it was a good sign when I did five tames and got four specials with three of them being specials I didn't know yet.
Anyway, I've been camping the area for three days now and so far it's treated me good. (No more runs of specials like that first day, unfortunately!) Thanks to the quest spawn inside the POI, there is a constant stream of player traffic to this spot on the map and I believe this is what keeps the wildlife spawning around this area.
This is on Bria. I'd be curious if it's the same on other servers. The implication is that barren planets like Talus and Tatooine could still be good taming grounds if you can find a POI or quest waypoint that is visited frequently enough that the server load algorithm decides to put some wildlife in the area.

Well, that ray DOES NOT shine on Talus on Intrepid
I saw this post and immediately headed to Talus and the Weapons Depot ... nothing! Not a yellow or red dot to be seen! I ran around the Depot maybe 200m out and nothing! I ran around the depot maybe 400m out and nothing. There was already a group of three people at the Depot killing rebs so it's not like there was not any activity going on. Except for a few low level spawns around the cities, I have seen no non-mision spawns for a very very long time. Something is not right!

Talus has been good on Ahazilately, but Rori is pretty much a wasteland.
The GCW score on Rori is like Reb 900, Empire 40.
On Talus, the score is in low double digits for both sides last time I checked.
I am of the opinion that all those bases are part of the problem.

Yea, Talus has been pretty good on Ahazi. I've been out hunting the insects here and have come across tons of spawns now, including a few greater sludge panther babies.
And since I've been wiping out tons of mite lairs, I'm guessing thats helping the spawns too.
