Thread: Anyone here still on TC, specials nerf''d ???
Message Edited by jopenack on 10-09-2005 12:59 PM
Thank you for bringing the information here - after all the hard work to tame and learn these abilities, I seriously hope they are not going to be nerfed after. I have only just learnt my last ability and am now trying to level the pets I will keep, up to slot opening. After all of this - the pets abilities better be worth having.

Actually Oddwan I have been here for ages and that little paragraph at the end is for someone who seems to like to follow me occasionally and for some reason either downright attack and insult me or try the intelligent discussion/disagreement aproach to provoke an arguement. I am tired of it, it's assimple as that. This person once got a a fellow ch banned here doing the same thing and it would seem I am Pluto's replacement on the hit list. He'l provoke then call the mod's. lol.
Nothing against anyone but many here know me and must be aware of it lol. Sometimes you just need to send the message that you leave me alone I'll leave you alone. Since I don't even look inside his threads I wish he would do the same to mine.
Anyways your welcome i try lol. I hope they don't nerf them too and even the other professions skills.
The problem over the past month is getting a stable version of pre pub 24 onto TC. Yes getting a stable version! The client was crashing everytime there was more than three people in your proximity. During the last week they have managed to get a someone stable version of this publish onto TC. Very infrequent boots are occuring but these are very few, now they got that issue taken care of perhaps now they can look at the specials.
However with the fact there is a beta going on, this is going to be very slow going...
As you can see if you follow the above link, it is not so much the specials being nerf'd as it is mobs are getting very large ristence to them. Mobs are also getting all the specials we can have and more. lol.
End results are mobs get a big boost and players get reduced in effectiveness.
Check it out the pistoleer correspondent was pretty much ontop of it, I am just wondering if this is going to send the ch/pets back a few months in time lol.

As Kwong said, this is the second attempt at putting this publish and the new specials on TC, and its only slightly more successful then the first , aborted attempt.
So anyone, correspondant or not, whos saying they know exactly what is intended here is shooting air, there is so much broken , judging the differene between bugs and working as intended is virtually impossible.
However, NPC's use many specials now, including CoB, and duellist stance. So whilst I have never seen any 'immunity' from states, I have seen npcs using defence improving mods which would have the same percieved effect should the player not actually be watching what is going on, as simply you hit them less when they combine CoB and duellist.
The intention is to make combat more difficult , that is obvious, and even creatures using the kd/intim type specials it will onviously work, although given most mobs can use any number of specials from any number of professions, and we currently have no idea whether that is as intended or not, how much more difficult any particular level mob actually is is simply impossible to jusdge as we stand at the minute.
For CH in general, I havent seen a difference in my combat ability, when a pet actually hits with a special it works.I really cant see how that can be considered a nerf.

I read about many of the AI becoming resistant to the specials and that is worrying for a ch, from the aspect of tougher mobs may mean more pet incaps and loss of vitality. A truly dreaded thought now that we put so much work into our combat pets.
I am sure they have a lot more work to do with publish 24 from the sound of it. Many things may be changed yet.
I think there are a few issues at play in all of this.
1. 100 percent mark spamming is happening where some people are starting fights by giveing someone 8 or 9 states to contend with. Though the truth is we probabally need state resistence for characters listed. Its not good that fights boil down to stacking states reguardless of what they do.
2, Healing is damn near required now maybe because its so effective players have been reduced to spamming specials. Not to serve a strategic purpose but to ensure that the opponent is forced to heal over and over again. Damage needs to be reviewed as does healing efficency. Healers are god simply because they will just spend hours outlasting you.
3. State dealing is overly messed up in effectiveness in general in the game. If you bleed for 45 points it dosent do much for you to bleed an opponent. Nor is it worth trying to poison with ranged healing 4. My to hit with neurotoxin is just horrible. I would gladly see the to hit lowered if the healing efficency got cut back or some of the states actually had decent effect other then spamming 9 on people to get good stuff happening.
I agree some of the bounties are cooky those are called bosses. I usually call a friend when i find one of these monsters, and he helps me heal my pet for a dare not touch them myself. Though yesterday I did notice a change and for once it did not seem directed at CH. I kept trying to use my eyeshot on a couple targets you know I have just now decided I want to spam specials see if I can give my pet a easier time of it. 3 out of 4 attempts would end in something unique. The target would do an explosion effect. This effect seems to have made it so they could resist the special. This came at a cost though it seems doing this made the enemy target take more damage from the hit but the state did not apply.
This may be what is going on here. A system where a npc can choose to resist a state. With a kind of passive buff opting to take more damage rather then have the state applied. Personally I think its kind of cool. Seems like a elegant solution to state spamming, but dosent totally punish the state dealer. You may not get the blind but atleast the attack gets a damage bonus in effect not denying you everything. The npc is simply makeing it so you cant have them special trapped.
I checked verbose and it didnt seem to list what these npcs were useing. Only seemed to happen on eyeshot my bleeds still seemed effective. Also I might note that any new rule set probabally wont apply to chs. There are three kinds of weapons in the game. Ranged melee and natural. CH uses natural attack, and these npcs were not blocking my natural attack specials. They were blocking my ranged states though.
Other cool stuff I found in verbose my kimo does 355 points of damage before armor. My damage listed for my kimo was 199 usually so I would say that the Bounty marks have a standard armor of sixty percent resistance.
Do I think what you listed is a nerf no but it might be a prelude to some state fixes, or a new type of defensive buff that some classes may get to have say commando. Man if commando got a stance that did what these npcs have been doing in the game commandos might be seriously dangerous. If the system is not effecting creature pets because they are natural weapons thats only more good news for ch.
