Thread: Only 50pts of damage from ranged attack by CL70 SM Soldier?!

[grrr, I hate Lithium....]


Ok, short version of what I just tried to submit before being told I needed to authenticate:


I have a pair of CL35 BDQs (fully leveled, not fully trained) and a CL70 Shear Mite Soldier. When using their ranged attacks they do only 50pts of (energy) damage per hit. I have managed to briefly get the BDQs to do full damage for about 5 kills immediately after being called (and issuing no intervening commands) but this appears to be a fluke. They reverted to 50pts/ranged hit after that, and re-calling them multiple times did not change this. The SMS has never managed to do more than 50pts of ranged damage per hit.


I have tested this fairly exhaustively:


- vs multiple levels of creatures (though none higher CL than the pet, as I've got no such thing handy ATM)

- both grouped and ungrouped

- with and without a combat droid (which also only hits for 50pts of ranged damage per shot)

- ordered to attack from beyond 64m, at 64m-ish, just beyond 30m, and closer than than

- with me close to the target and far from the target (within limits of being able to see the attack in the combat spam)

- with and without issuing their 'used ranged' previous to attacking or even during the attack


Is there something I'm missing here? I'd really like to get full damage at range (therefore please don't suggest I order them to 'follow other' and close on the target - that trick is known to me and not what I'm looking for . I haven't seen anyone else mention this in the month or so I've been back, and those who have mentioned the ranged attack on the SMS as a perk haven't mentioned this either.

That is a bug, I've seen it often and keep a close watch out for it. When it happens, I store and recall the pet. He comes out of the pad hitting a lot stronger than that, sorry I dont have the precise figures, because I am not seeing the damage figs when not grouped, and I am too lazy to read the combat log .But, at some point and time his ranged attack will be practically nil. I just keep an eye on what damage he is doing in the ham bar of the enemy, and its pretty obvious when it is doing hardly anything . This applies to only ranged attacks in my case, and the soldiers in particular, I have two fully trained ones.


It's two things you have to watch for, degrading damage, and of course, the well-known problem/bug where XP stops compiling.....I keep the top left corner of the datapad on my screen just to make sure that the creature is gaining XP. Several times a day at least, the XP will stop, and again, store and recall.
