Thread: A little confused... novice CH box gives +2 or +12 to max pet level?

When you are a NON-ch... you have a max pet level of 10 right? When you take just the novice CH box, it says max pet level +12. Does this then mean that you are at 12 total, or it adds 12 to the non-ch 10? I'm assuming 12 total... but just want to be clear.
