ok i just want to put my 2 cents in about the arguement over rare and extinct pets. just the whole realistic aspect is stupid to have rare/extinct baby creatures out there. however i dont want to see a billion creature handlers walkin around with a frenzied graul or bull rancor. its just the number of babies spawning is insane. all the people killing rancors and such just to find an baby would, in RL, cause the whole species to become extinct. even if 1 baby spawned per day it wouldnt mean a CH would be there to tame it. as far as we know it could be a month or something before another one spawned. i want a sense of accomplishment when finding these nice pets and not have a zillion dancing around the starports like all the greater sludge panthers. i have yet to even see one bull rancor pet on my server though. a compromise somewhere in the middle seems appropriate or at least let our pets go back to the stats they use to have so that creatures like the bull rancor/GPS/frenzied graulwould be a prize and not something every CH desperatly needs. plus i dont see why all creatures dont have babies. where are all the spawns comming from?

well thats my 2 cents on the subject. agree ordisagree its just my opinion. keep up the good work fellow CH's and good luck.

Let me point out as someone who has been in the pet trade business that creatures that are indeed rare in the beginning tend to become rather common in the end. Especially if the breeding population is high enough to withstand capture or collect. I paid 1K for my albino Burmese Python. By the time I had mine ready to breed they were selling for 75 wholesale two years later.

A lot of that can change depending on the husbandry factors of certain animals. Albino Ball Pythons tend to stay rarer because they are harder to breed. Things like the San Fransico Gart Snake are rare because of geographic isolation and California indigenous species reptile laws, and the CITES Law (Endangered Animals Laws).

The laws are easy enough to get around with the proper paperwork. You can ask Tom Crutchfield about Endangered animals if he is out of prison yet. Fiji Island Iguanas are a real NO NO if you do not have the paperwork.

I am not talking things so rare they are not even found in the wild. As you pointed out things like the American Alligator were found in the pet trade for a long time and sanctions had to be put in place to keep them from being hunted to extinction.

The fact really is that if something becomes popular as a pet one of two things occur:

1) it is breed ad naseum for fast cash and ceases to be rare
2) it is hunted into extinction.

Now what is the point? I say this a bit tongue in cheek, but aren't rare hunters really poachers? They are taking babies from animals that really seem to be teetering on extinction/

lol. It's just a Thune Grassland Guardian. They really aren't rare. Can find one in a day or two.
