Hi all.
I am 40k away from Master Ch witm Pistol 0040 and Ranger 4030
It seems that with this template I can't kill the really tough stuff? My pets get the crap beaten out of them (using 2 grand Wrixes) and my pistole does like 700b\dmg to the helath pool
I figured I'd be a Druid type of character. And only help the pets with the pistol. But it seems like I have to do the killing.
Should I go rifles instead or maybe Commando CH?
Stck in points all over the place land

Most folks will tell you their favourite combo. Myself, I'm a Swordsman/CH as I've always preferred melee combat - but a lot of people do swear by Rifles/CH. If you can spare points - keep your xx3x Ranger - will come in invaluable in creature searching.
Try this link for seeing how many skill points you'd have spare and experimenting etc.

Hmm swords. Maybe I could use some of those loot swords from the themeparks.
I had thought about melee. Rifles just seems so sloooow and I hate lying down on the job.
Thanks for the info

Themepark loot swords = teh suxor!
I only ever get my gamorrean axe out for something different to all the powerhammers and scythes. And then I put it away and get out my powerhammer or scythe when I want to kill something
Well-crafted 2 hand weapons are the way ahead (except for the very rare exceptional NPC loots).
And I reckon Swords / MCH rocks a lot - send the hard pet in first to absorb some punishment and take that sucka down!
Me and my BE mawgax can take out ATST after ATST like that

I am MCH / Master carbineer. I like the combo not to much in pve I can not handle. I do little pvp does not interest me much. Carbineer has some of the best range weapons and special attacks for them in game. Down side the ham cost is about the highest. I like the fact I am mobile with range. I can run and fight which I do a lot on harder targets, fast and furious. My pets keep them busy and I attack. I have had this combo for about a year. I am not a profession jumper. I have learned how to fight with this combo. Many will say it is to weak but it works great for me. Sometime knowledge of your abilities out weighs pure strength.

I dont really care if peeps on this board like it or not, but delete the grand wrix's until teh combat rebal. Go get yourself two level 33 hi kenetic lite armor 10k hambio engineered pets and ALMOST ANY OTHER COMBAT PROFESSION. ANYTHING. Seriously, pistols are fine, if you use good quality BE pets.
We have to make teh best of what we have right now andBE pets are unfortunately the way to go if you wanna be in combat.
I find that with master rifleman, I am overpowered and using the pets is almost overkill almost to the point of boredom. So.... regardless of what the purists say on this board (and i consider myself one, but I wont be beaten down by the great nerf from last year), make the best of what we have to work with right now until the combat rebal happens and get yourself some nice BE pets.
Now that said, there are some great tamable pets that are fun to use such as a gaping spider recluse. They always make things more interesting by accidentily tapping lairs lol.

when I was a SwordsmanI used to hunt graul maulers with my level 49 BE rancor. I would send him in first, then I could come in and stand btween his legs and just start (ahem) hammering away. (pun intended) did this unbuffed and unarmored. I know some people that hunt rancors unbuffed and unarmored with a power hammer. May take a bit, but it's easy really.

ooh , another thing... Rifles are anything but slow. Imagine hitting for 3-4k damage per second... with the proper attachments.

CH/Rifleman here. Thar AP# T-21 is nice to have at the early stages of CH when all you can tame are low level pets. Pistols are handicapped by their lack of armor piercing. The extra defense from swordsman will help.

I am MCH and headed up Pistols to Fanshot. Going Rifles is ok if you prefer. I like having the republic blast that shoots faster than any rifle. Hits from the same distance as a rifle.
Here is the key thing. If you are CH you are always going to be helping your pets. The KEY is spamming the specials. Even in PvE the pets should only be a distraction.
The way to do it is send pet in to attack the lair. Let the first additional wave spawn. Then fanshot everything. Tell pet to follow. Harvest everything then pop the next wave. Keep the pet attacking the lair. This draws it tons of agro. Fanshot everything again. Harvest then blow the lair. I never get buffed for this tactic. Heal your pet.
This is harder on lairs that will bleed or poison your pet.
A safety to use is pull out a second pet. Make sure it has a seperate ATTACK command because this pet you are going to set to GUARD you. You will plunder the lair and harvest much quicker with fanshot.
IF AT ANY TIME, you tell the first pet to attack a creature over the lair once you start this you can and probably will draw agro. Never take it off the lair. But if you do the second guard pet should help (some).

Im currently MCH, TKM and Ranger Tracking 3.
May choose another combat class after I have collected all pets that I wanna have. I dont think I could live without TKA meditate currently. Plague strike is nasty and I hate poison.
May try carbines or something else later on
