I would like to start off by saying hello to all my fellow ch's. I have been playing since release, and well aware of the issue with ch. I have read the forums here for a long time. But let me get down to my point.

I was on dathomir helping a freind get exp. We were in the middle of rancor valley. Well all of a sudden we drew more enraged rancor's that intended, thought ( oh boy here we go). I was tkm at the time, and was fully buffed and in comp armor. I had 7 enraged rancor's on me and they could not take me. I was like a blending machine, then is occured to me. If 7 enraged rancor's could not make me break a sweat, ( which are about a 70th lvl mob) what chance does acreature handler's pet such as a rancor , or web master have agaist another player? Ok tkm are tough agaist kinetic type fights, but I have had my bh up agaist 5-6 and the same thing no chance for the enraged rancor's.

Ok here is another point that is near to the heart of the matter concerning ch. While it is part of the GCW, it still functions the same. A at-st is a 125 lvl pet. 55k on ham, medium armor. I have seen any and all combat classes able to take one down. And im not talking just the at-st, the at-st and the guy controling it where beat.

Ok so what do we have here? Players beating 125 lvl pet and their owner. And a ch can only tame up to a 70th lvl pet? Which keep in mind agaist a player buffed and in comp, 5 such 70th lvl pets are no match. And that is even if you have a pet around 70th lvl.

Creature handler seriously needs a boost. I think we should be allowed to tame creatures as high as 100th lvl. And allow max pet's out at a time to equal 125 lvl's. As well as fix the resist on the wild pet's. To powerful you say? If seven, 70th lvl creatures are no match for a player in comp and buffed , and if a 125th lvl pet is beat along with it's owner. Then I tell you, go out and test it for your self. See if you can take a at-st and it's onwer., see if a pile of high level creature mob's can take you alone in comp and buffed. Most of you already know the truth. I have witnessed these things first hand.

At one time ch was a great combo for any combat class. But now unless you min/ max you bonuses you fall behind in ever aspect , including all the new places such as geno cave, corvette, DW bunker ,and now the FS village. Not to mention pvp. Pets last a whole few secounds in these places. which futher proves ch is way under powered. the mobs running around in these places are 70th lvl and alot higher. If non ch, can take these high lvl mobs and alot solo them, then ch needs a boost bad.

Buffs and armor are ever where, as well as food. I remember the old days when ch was respected, now it is a dead class but for a few that remain, and a few new ones curious about it and like it. I seriously hope that some thing is done. I know my post is justa trickle , a drop in the bucket. But hopefully one day ch, will be a class that many want to become again.

All good points Rain. Personally I would like to think that the fabled (whispers...) Combat Rebalance will bring others more into line with CH by making them weaker rather than making us more powerful.....for example they might decide to make buffs less efficient, who knows?

I totally agree that one character should struggle to survive against one Rancor, let alone seven!

At least that would seem to be more in line with the films.

The only other mmorpg that I've played is EQ. Admittedly I prefer SWG, but there was one element of EQ that Sony got spot on - that was the simple fact that people were forced to group in order to take down higher level mobs (although I sure some l33t speaking d00d or whatever will put me straight on that).

I'm not saying that SOE shouldFORCE people into grouping in SWG (moreENCOURAGE really)but at the very least can we remove the ease with which people can solo mobs that should clearly be paying them as much attention as we would a small dog that's snapping at our ankles!

Theintroduction of alittle challenge might increase the playability ten-fold.

Umm.. Enranged rancors are actually lvl 80 or 85... Mutant rancors are 75... so you acctually under-stated. Part of the combat rebalance will be that buffs are lesser, and comp armor will have much lower resiest, the best armor will still be the best armor, but it will definately not be the same.

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.

melee stacking + composite armour + buffs = broken combat. It is not a problem with CH but with other professions, for a change.

GCW is non-existant because combat is broken. Ranged combat was meant to dominate SWG but its the most ineffective in PvP and ineferior in PvE.

They nerfed CH to hell and back again because we were the only profession that could tank, now anyone can tank really. Just get buffs, wear composite armour and you can tank pretty much anything. The major downgrading of our wild pets meant that these mobs are a joke to tank for any player. I could tank rancors with my master doctor and he didn't have one melee skill at all. I could kill rancors with a pistol, wasn't fast, just sad.

There is nothing a CH can do against someone who has made a melee stacking PvP template and is fully buffed. I am tempted to get a whole bunch of semi-worthless pets that just have strong disease on them and just infect with a swarm of plagued creatures. Wont kill them but will annoy. I know, I am petty.

As a CH/BH I am fairly decent at ranged combat and the pets give me some tanking ability, I am not a huge PvP fan so it doesn't bug me all that much. I dont play 10 hours a day so getting on, fooling around and killing a few mobs with friends is still entertaining for me.

SWG needs a massive fix to combat. It is just fubar.

When I do the Geo Caves, I am MCH/MTK I can do all of the Enhanced Klicknik CL 109 40k HAM and the Enhanced Kwi CL 106 31k HAM by myself. I have to beat on them for a while because they have medium armor but I never have a problem as long as my pets are stored and I do not have to worry about them. When the meat is good, it is not unusual for me to take on 16 Enraged/Bull Rancors at a time. The only problem is the disease and that only makes me meditate for a minute or two when I am done.

Is MTK over powered or is MCH underpowered? If they try to do to the other combat professions what they did to CH there will be a mass exodus from the game. I think they know this because of the mass exodus from CH. This is why you see no "Combat Rebalance" and will not see one no matter what they say. People will just quit and zipping around in a "twitch" Xwing shoot em up is not going to keep them with WOW and other games about to come out.

This is a good post.

Maybe combat rebalance has something good for everyone....maybe even the CH's.

I tell you this....If the devs do not deliver on "leveling" the playing field for all professions...there will be an exodus of mass proportion....JTL or no JTL.

I can't wait to hear the defense stackers and pure combat professions fuss about not being able to solo the hard missions or PWNZR in PvP. That will be the day.

thats because they jumped the gun on nerfing all creatures tamable or not

easiest balance is to restore all creatures to they'r former glory, since uber armor and buffs were not around in abundance back then, when i first came to swg chitin was the best armor lol

reversing the ch nerf is the perfect balance for the short term fix, we are stronger and all creatures are stronger for other professions to be challenged again

to do this might be like admitting a mistake though, thats why it probably wont be done, its much easier to say they are aware og it and will be getting to it soon lol

Liberation,

I won't say you are wrong. But there is an angle that EQ used to encourage grouping. About 2 years ago EQ went to an XP reward policy. If you soloed something that was an even Con you got (if I recall properly) 40% of the actual XP. Then that went up more as you added members to your group.

Anyone who played a Necromancer, Druid or Wizzy could still solo, but they did it less effectively than if they were grouped. Quading Mobs was a favortie for these classes.

Higher level loot remained a problem if you could not solo. Killing GODs often required at least one RAID sized party. The POP zones required 2 or 3 Raids put together to take down the newer and more powerful GODs.

I do not like forced grouping. But I also agree that there should be a cutoff to where soloing ends.

One of the things that EQ finally got right was the removal of KEI and AEGO as spells to be used on newbs who powerlevelled their way into uberdom.

What needs to happen as a part of this nerf is defined levels. A brand new person should not be able to recieve the best buffs. All players with no elite skills should be counted as level 0 for all purposes. All level 0 should only be able to recieve Buff A's. This deflates their uber factor. An Elite title makes you Level 1, Buff B. Completing one skill tree to tier 4 makes you level 2, Buff C. Mastering one Elite makes you level 4, and Buff D.

Problem solved. With buffs. At least for phase I.

I think the developers know this already, and are working on it. However it is kind of a complicated thing to fix, if you nerf buffs and armor then creature handler will again be "overpowered". This is one reason why it has taken so long for SOE to balance things. Think about it, what could you do to fix everything with out breaking something else?

Thanks all for your comments, I hope more can see my post. I really want creature handler able to compete with other classes. Not be more powerful. It just isnt any fun when one class is no match for another, no challenge. We all come to this game and pay the same amount as each other. No one class should be, the be all,and the end all of all classes , nor should one fall so far behind it is useless in so many of the newaspects and cant keep up with the other classes.
