I get the "you have invited your pet" message then nothing. Stays outside group. I'm the only person in the group and the pet is right next to me.

Wow guys, i have not been on my account since 8 months, and i still pay for it, i think i love swg more than jesus......am i going ot hell?

You must be withing a short distance of the group leader to group your pets.

i had this on test too.

the workaround is getting a person to invite you, then group the pets, then have the other person make you leader and kick him out

This happened to me some time ago.

I told my pets to group, I got the system message but they did not join my group.

And when I selected a pet, the group icon was displayed next to it's name.

I could not resolve the issue.

And somehow, the next day, everything was running fine again.

Had this only one time and never again.
