Today after reading JustG's "news" about the smuggler revamp I decided its time to take a walk away from civilization for a while, and I have been contemplating picking up CH again. I started as a CH back when a novice could have a few rancors, but left soon after whenmy weaponsmith friend lost his smuggler,so I stepped in to help fill the void. I have been moving from profession to profession lately looking for a fun alternative, but so far nothing has been able to keep me happy. I have decided to come back to the thing I started first, but never finished.
I was thinking about going Master Creature Handler, Master Rifleman, Medic 4040, Scout 4040, and Marksman 4003. Does anyone have this template? If so how do you fare PvE. At this point I am pretty fed up with hunting players (and with them for that matter,) and with all my favorite professions getting spanked and passed over one after another I figure that if I goto CH, which has been nerfed so many times, maybe my nerf luck will turn around, and CH will get brought back to the super coolness it deserves.
So if anyone has suggestions about a template that includes Master Creature Handler, and anything else I haven't mastered then I'd love to hear from you, as I am out of ideas.I hope that CH canrekindle the fun factorbecause I'd hate to leave a game that was so much fun for so long.

My template is by no means Uber, but it's tons of fun for me. TKM, MCH (6 boxes to go), 0340 Marksman, 4044 Scout. I kept 4 in carbines cause it sucks, and 4 in survival cause it sucks too. I am eventually going to try BH, so I figure keeping this template will be the easiest way for me to transition from TKM. I am maxed in combat XP, so I can level Ranged Support back up to 4 at any time.

I was a TKM for a while, and it was fun fora bit, but I did so much damage myself that I stopped using anything else...and that wayned the fun factor for me, I figure that even though rifleman is very powerful, the balance of MCH will allow me to send pets in then release my rain of destruction. I do miss the meditation line though...very much actually...

I love being a master ranger to find critters, not much of a damage dealer but fun for me.

well, I am MCH, Flamethrower Commando level iv and novice medic with 1 healing box filled, and I can solo just about anything. Giant Dune Kimogila, NIght Sister Elders, anything short of a Krayt Dragon, however my jedi pal thinks I shoul dtry to solo a Juvenile Krayt Dragon...
We shall see. I have uber pets and uber tactics. I have pvp'd TKMs and toasted them to death, it is more about skill with what you have rather than just fillinga template.
This is not to say that Rifleman/MCH would not be stronger, I am just pointing out that I like my template and wont change it until they nerf combat.
Then, I will rethink my weapon choice to complement my MCH.

If you are going on a wilderness kick and want to go full fledge. I went MCH/ Master Ranger / Rifles 1001 / Marksman 4001 With my pets and my traps I was able to survive on Dath pretty well. Took down quite a few Ancient Bull Rancors with pets only losing half their HAM.
Of course nowadays I would have done 0020 Rifles and used the DXR rifle to hunt on Dath.

i have almost the exact same template as what you are going for.
mine is
MCH/MR
scout 4-0-4-0
marksman 4-0-0-0
medic 4-3-4-0
i used to have the ranged tree but as the benefits of those 3 boxes are really pretty much useless, i dropped them in favor of healing speed. having decent healing speed has saved my pets vitality quite alot and also has saved me from db's as well.
tumbling is ok, but the defenses you get from the ranged line isnt all that much at least imo.
as for the overall template, it is the win for someone like me, who plays via dialup and loves to pve.
petstim D's, Stim D's your trusty rifle and pets and you can do just about anything you want in the game.

Question: What is the MR in MCH/MR? I am guessing Rifleman, as you don't have scout listed as mastered so it can't be Master Ranger.

I was thinking about that template, but with NO medic skills thats seems like it would get painfully expensive to heal pets using pet stims (they are so damn expensive)

The reason I am thinking about the ranged tree is because of the General Ranged Aiming +25, the ranged defence +4, the Rifle Speed +5, the Rifle Accuracy +10, and the Melee Defence +2. They seem to outweigh healing speed...or am I wrong? With good Stim D's I should be able to heal for at least 2k on my pets, so I don't think it should be much of an issue needing to heal very fast.

Cryonax,
I don't think you get any rifle speed from the Ranged Support line. I may be wrong but the +5 speed comes from master marksman and my accuracy is 160 as a master rifle so the +10 doesn't seem that important to me, at least nothing that a few skill tapes can't compensate for. Again, I may be wrong and if I am, ranged support 4 here I come.
Hope that helps and happy hunting.

Hm..I'm going by the character builder at http://swgcb.yogn.net/as I am at work and cannot play here.
I will have to check ingame, or if anyone else has access to their game could they let me know?

I am not in game right now, but I mastered Marksman last night and the +5 speed comes at the Master box. I think ranged and meleedefense comes from the Ranged support lines.
