I understand that Range Attack for your pets would work after patch 7. Only not for my pets, am I doing something wrong or is it still not working?

It's my understanding that the ranged attack "fix" applied only to BE creatures.

I have a natural arachne Warrior with ranged blind attack. It seems to work just fine for me. I also have a BE rancor with acid ranged attack that works fine.
