Cu pa or a wrix is good. Cu pa is CL 11, wrix is CL 12. Both are non-aggro, but the wrix kittens usually have mottled wrix cousins hanging around who are VERY aggro and turn the non-aggro wrix into BAFfing buddies.

This is where it pays to be master scout. You can see exactly what level they are before you attempt it.

The only other way is to just get used to what levels creatures are. This is where the grinders will fall behind because when they were getting their exploration and hunting skills, they weren't learning, they were just gaining exp.

Or, if it says, "you can't tame that", they're beyond you still (You knew that). When you raise your CH skill, try it again and see what it says. As a guide, go by the ham and what their sunburst cons to you. If it's red, you probably won't stand a chance of taming it at your level till you get much higher in CH.

Keep in mind, they won't let you accidentally tame something uber or beyond your level. But try things out anyway, that's one of the fun parts about it all.

I trained a pair of womp rats. To answer your question: tame everything and anything with the word baby that you see.

BTW, anything aggro (red on your radar) as an adult is beyond your ability to tame untl you have Taming II, at a minimum. This means that cool pets like quenkers and huurtons are not tamable to you now.

Right now, as a novice, you can't even tame a kreetle (baby).
