Thread: Please make the XP curve more difficult!

I know the new xp curve wasn't put in till just recently, but already at the end of beta we were seeing wayyyy too many CH's with rancors and other nasties in PVP.

That or work on the difficulty of taming failures and such so the bigger nasties are really Master CH only.

CH is a great proffesion and I plan on playing it, but it's become bandwagon with its power and no proffesion should have a reason to be "bandwagon". It's a sure sign that something is either too easy, or unbalanced in my book.

Power? when a TKA comes up and hits the rankor for 2k a pop after incapping you and killing your pet with no trouble at all? cmon man.

Yes it is a bandwagon, but it is not all THAT for pvp. For pve I will agree that CH is the best of the solo classes. I was CH in beta, never got a rankor until some guy GAVE it to me, that is why so many people had them, gifts! Dont forget faction pets, people will have them inside a month, and CH is supposed to wait for a good pet for 3 months? gimme a break

Besides, from what I understand a modified Dewback from a master BIO-ENG can kick a tamed rankor's butt.

Taming curve is fine as it is in my opinion, difficulty in taming is fine as well in my opinion.

Were you ever a tamer in UO? my gods it took 10 times longer than any other class and was not very usefull until the end game.

Another point, I was master pistoleer before I was even half way up the CH tree, so you have to look at it from that point of view as well.

Lets wait and see if the sky falls before screaming "the sky is falling the sky is falling" ... Dont try to fix a problem that has yet to exist. Asking for a nerf when nobody even IS a CH is absolutely preposterous.

Dont worry, it is a tedious thing being a CH (if you are not a pet guy at heart). People will give up on it I am sure. Kind of like Bounty hunters are pretty tedious to do and so there will not be an obnoxious amount of them either (but probably more than CH).

There are also the people that will want to be overt and a CH... talk about painting a big "kick me" note on your back, TKA owns pets, and TKA is one of the prefered PVP templates. This will discourage a few more of the people wanting to be uber pet handlers.

Another reason will be faction "pets"... dark troopers are pretty kick butt, and you can hand them a weapon and they will use it (read: player made superior weapons) so people looking for the "easy pet" will use faction points to do it.

CH will not be overcroweded I am sure. Add to that the fact that last I knew (in beta) a CH could give a pet to anyone and they could use it... well that is plain wrong! but it was true and hopefully a bug. If it is not a bug then there will be even less CH's because the "achievers" will just buy them with all their good old fasioned creds.

Yeah I played UO **edit** during pre-UO:R when it was less common to see a tamer because it took half a year to a year to master. Maybe not that slow, but slower than it is now.

And I agree, TKA is another thing that needs nerfing or increased xp curve. Since the begginging of beta 3 my template has been Scout/CH and Brawler/TKA and been master 2x in both.

I wasn't in the beta, but I understand that bandwagon problem. I intended on playing a CH for a while now. I have always played pet classes. Now I am thinking since everyone wants to be a CH I may try something else. Rancors are so cool. I want one, but it is not so cool if everyone has them.I will wait and see I guess.

Just my 2 cents.

Actually they almost doubled the required XP to master CH. In beta it was 10k experience for each first tier skill box; now it's 17.5k. All the other tiers increased in about the same ratio.

Have any of you guys looked at the new rquirements for CH? taming IV is now 140k to get the end of beta it was 80k. You think ch is too fast well try this on for size you get no exp for combat with your pets so all you have is taming to earn exp then you figure on 100 exp to tame a creature plus 100 per command that you teach how long do you think it is going to take to get 140k in just the lvl IV skills EACH. OMFG Devs did you say something about the casual player? I hope none of them want Master CH because they will never get there. LOL I doubt they will make novice CH since you guys nerfed the scout exp for harvesting and increased mob difficulty out of the bounderies of sanity.

TKA's ... ** rock ** ... for PvP. However, becoming TKA only takes 84 (yes 84/250) skill pts. With that, i plan on making a TKA Creature Handler. I think it will be a pimp ass character, hopefully able to take out BH's without much trouble, cuz, well, BH's can just lick my sack.

Sorry but your calculation is wrong. TKA master takes 93 skill points. Still not excessive though.

Novice brawler = 15
Unarmed tree = 14
Novice TKA = 6
Each TKA Tree = 14 * 4 = 56
TKA Master = 2

Total Points = 93
Creature Handler takes 107 so take best of both worlds and become a TKA Creature Handler for 200 points and use your other points to get yourself novice medic to heal your pets or go up the other scout trees for traps and camping.

The possibilities are endless. Of course, once you start talking about adding Bio-Engineering in, then you begin to lose out on the combat ability, but I've seen people able to go the PVE route with CH/Bio and not need any weapons. LIke I said, possibilities are endless.

sigh leave it to them to completley screw up dark troopers

not only did they have white armor instead of black (or tehy were to small with black armor) either way messed up

plus they didn't use "any weapon" they used a shoulder mounted cannon missle launcher thing
