I'm a Wookie, so keep that in mind.
My questions are...
1) What order should I be getting my boxes in? I'm novice right now. Is one tree more important than any others?
2) Whats the best pet for each box? At novice, I'm using a Kaadu Baby that is level 7(12).
3) Do pets grow in your datapad and do they grow when you are offline? I look kinda funny with these tiny little babies following me around. Also, what is the time frame for you pet to fully mature?
4) Where is the best planet/area to solo hunt? I have some medic since i'm also going Bio-Engineer, and I have novice pistoleer.
5) At novice, the max CL of a pet that I can tame/control is CL 12?
6) I can only control 1 pet until I get Pack Management, then I can control 2?
Thanks for bearing with a newb...but CH is just such a fun profession, I dont care how broke it is!
PS. I'm not holo-grinding...I made a conscious decision to become a CH/BE!
Ok, I'll try to address most of these.
1) the order is up to you, depending on what you see as important first. for naming a pet, you're gonna need an additional command, so empathy I. that will also get you the trick command, which isneeded for healing mind wounds. Another handy command will be "group", so I suggest management in that case. Most people just want to raise their taming and training though so they can tame and call bigger pets. With the new structure, I find it popular for most to get the second set of boxes. My own choice would be empathy one, then alternate between taming and training till those are at II, then I would go after management until I get the ability to call more than one pet.
2) best pet for each box. there is no "best pet". that one will be up to your own preference. Check em out, explore, go to new worlds and find babies. that's very fun and entertaining. If you happened to get master scout, you'll be at an advantage because you'll know their exact level before you attempt to tame.
3) Pet growth. This varies, but I do know that if you don't log in, they don't grow. Log in every day at least once during each 12 hour cycle and they'll grow fastest. Some grow faster than others and its not related to any type of pet. It's all random for each one.
4) Depends on how good you are in combat. You must protect your pet, since you are ranged, he'll be tanking pretty much of the time. for raising CH, do it in a group on dantooine. When your combat gets higher and you are quite formidable, try Endor for solo. Naboo, Tatooine, Corellia and Talus are good for low to intermediate weapon skills.
5) yes, CL12, and since you are wookie you have a bonus for taming aggro pets that other species don't have.
6) true, one pet. When you get the management column raised and get pack management, you will be able to call 2, but their combined levels cant exceed your "max pet level" so at level 12, you could only call 2 level 6's. You also get less experience for each pet if they both fight, its usually not worth it to get this early on.
Also, if I can add this. As far as exp goes, your pet only needs to hit the enemy one time for you to get the full exp for it. For big mobs that can kill it, send the pet in near the end. for easy mobs send the pet in and after it tags the enemy, kill the enemy yourself quickly. If you are getting just 1 CH xp, then your pet is much higher level than its enemy and you need to go after bigger mobs to get xp. Also, as the pet grows from level 1 to whatever, it'll offer most experience when it get to about level 5, so plan to kill lots on that day.
Also, for ch experience, you have to weigh this part out yourself. You can kill the yard trash outside bestine at 100 ch exp each, have a limitless supply and kill 10 of them to get 1000, or you can kill pikets on dantooine, at a great danger to you and your pet for 600 ch exp each. I found that the xp went much faster on the smaller mobs, but it gets tedious.
Have fun and welcome to CH.
