Thread: Okay, I give up. How in the world does CH xp work?

Okay I've read as many posts and FAQs as I can stand and I still don't understand how this works at all. These are my observations of CH xp from novice to 4433.

-It may or may not have something to do with level of the creature

-It has nothing to do with how much the creature has grown (i.e. 1/15 has given me the same xp as 15/15)

-I've got a level 15/15 that gets more xp than a level 22/34 but not by much

-The same creature level 19/34 gets the same xp as level 22/34

-I've got a level 22/22 that gets a little more than half the xp of my 15/15

-I have a level 10/10 that gets less than half the xp of the 15/15

What in the world is going on? There's no definitive post on the formula for CH xp. The only thing I can think of is the 15/15 is a roba that was tamed in like maybejuly or something when my friend was a noob and he has since traded it to me. The 22/34 is a fambaa that I trained recently. The level 22/22 is a BE pet that I bought 10 days ago. Could it have something to do with consider? Do you get more xp based on how high your consider was when you train the pet? Please someone sort this out with me. Obviously I'm just another holo grinder and I will drop CH as soon as I master it and no longer care. I apologize for further contaminating the CH population with yet another who cares little for the profession.

I wonder if the ferocity of the pet and target has anything to do with it.

Hi,

This is how it works. If you use a cl10 vs a big MOB say a tortur or a rancor you will get mega XP. The lower level your pet vs a higher level MOB the more XP you gain. The keys are this, your pet only has to hit the MOB once to get the XP and the Pet has to be alive when the MOB dies. SO it used to work fine using a CL 50 and a baby or a low level pet not anymore that cuts your XP in half. So now we use a low level pet plus an elite combat skill to Kill the MOB before it incaps the pet. I used a minor guf drolg on torturs to get my CH XP. Just one though. Well back then two when I finally could get em out, but they nerfed the two pets out XP so now you are limited to one.

Good luck.

....and then no matter how hard we get nerfed, we still keep CH because we are still some of the coolest characters on the game.

Thanks for the reply but I've seen this theory is not true for me. When I use my level 15 rancor gives about 1580 and change xp. When I use my level 10 I get less than 1000 I think it's like 979. My guildmate's are baffled too especially because they thought they'd already figured out how it works. I'll be done with the profession soonbut I'd like to know if I'm bugged or something. Thanks again skypreach!

Perhaps because unlike a level 10 carrion spat that might hit a mob once for 10 points a level 15 rancor might actually do some REAL damage that counts like player exp - the more damge you do the more exp you get, on top of the level difference gap. I did sharnaff hunts at novice with a 10 carrion spat, got about 400 exp with a 29 brackaset not much less, about 380. The brack can hit for 300 and the spat less than 100, if it can land at all. Or of course it could something completely different.

don't know how long it takes u to kill the big monster, but i get 1000xp in about 20 seconds. i use a baby gurrcat (lvl6 now) on low lvl creatures. then shoot after 1st attack. quick kills for quick xp.

What I meant to say is my level 15 pet gives me1580 something when I kill a rancor that it has attacked not that my level 15 is a rancor

When your pets are not full grown the equations are a bit trickier. It seems to work something like this.

A full grown pet that hits a mob you kill will get exp based on a ratio of its level to the level of the MOB it hit. So the smaller the pet and the bigger the mob the more exp you will get. Its not a direct progression and has a cap on the high end and the low end, more of a curve of some kind.

A developing pet gets the same exp as its full grown version, but then modified by its % age of its full grown. It used to be they got exp as if they were the level they are, but not its some kind of calculation, capping at 150% of what they would get as an adult. This means a Lv30 pet that is at lv 15 will get less exp in general than a full grown lv15 pet because of the cap on their exp. (this is an example not a statement of fact on those exact numbers).
