Thread: Poll: Jabba the Hutt as a Rare Pet Collector

I have been analyzing Return of the Jedi and have noticed that Jabba the Hutt appears to be collector of many treasures. Among those appear to be creatures as he appears to enjoy collecting them to serve entertainment purposes.
Here is my evidence to support this oppinion:
1. He has the credits to be such a collector and a facility to store the creatures he buys. The most notable of course is the Rancor which he keeps in his custom made dungeon for entertaining guests with those who become unwanted. Other creatures is that one that sits on his side and laughs everytime something bad happens to someone. Also as Chewbacca is taken to his cell there are creature appendages hanging from the confined cells.
2. Jabba appears to have vast knowledge of creatures and is one of the few on tatooine to know where the sarlacc rests.
3. Jabba enjoys using his creatures to execute his prisoners and in all cases of Return of the Jedi all unwanted guests he attempts to feed to his rancor or the sarlacc. Now there is no doubt that Jabba eliminates his enemies with his hired crew of bounty hunters and so on but when at his palace exclusively uses his pets to execute.
Also from Jabba the Hutts series of books he goes further saying Jabba enjoys using his creatures and that he enjoys listening to his victims pleas of mercy before feeding them to his pets.
I am asking this question to see if after reading this if others agree that Jabba could be classifed as a creature collector or creature enthusiast.
Please post your thoughts on this.

Jabba ALSO like to eat critters... like the fabulous 'meat-beast'... or the 'kaadu in the desert' (both ingame).
and in the movie, he had his own little raw-bar of floaty squirmy things.
Jabba is a decadent. he's got money, he's probably bored to tears being stuck in the body of a hideous bloated slug, and he wants to be entertained. he's sick and unbalanced. he cages what he can (rancor and such), eats what he can (he didn't get to be the overweight shut-in that he is on maroj melons and mid-desert salad greens), and kills for the sake of killing.
is he a collector? probably. would it be nice to have 'taming missions' or quests? definitely. will we see any of this ingame? someday, maybe.
Jabba's told me time and again that I'm welcome to hang out in his palace, but between the smell there, the creepy Bomarr clicking around the halls, and his questionable moral fiber, I tend to stay away. that... and he lives on tatooine; I try to avoid that twice-baked rock as much as I can.

I want a Hutt Faction. Jabba is much like me. I enjoy watching my pythons strike their meals. It is truly mystical to watch the circle of life.
They also keep unwanted guests like mothers and mother-in-laws at bay. Any person who has ever seen a 15 ft python yawn has to be a little bit afraid.

In Tales From Jabba's Palace (specifically the Rancor Tamer's Tale), Malakili gets the impression that Jabba doesn't really care about the rancor itself as a pet. He just wants the biggest, baddest monster possible. To that end, he puts out a constant call for ferocious creatures to pit against the rancor in combat to the death (including a trio of armored combat arachnids... possibly some form of arachne or giant angler?).
Jabba's attempts to acquire a live krayt to fight the rancor are what finally push Malakili into trying to run away with it. So I guess it could be argued that Jabba is after strong pets, but he doesn't seem to think twice about hitting Destroy on the old ones in his datapad.

Just to clarify I am pretty sure he didn't by the rancor I heard he recovered it when a smuggling ship from Darthomir crashed on Tatooine.
And for the last statment there is now showing that that appendeage comes from a creature, unless you are defining all none humans as creatures. It could possible come from a setient lifeform.

im not ryen to start a storyline rant here but while u are reviewing these movies see if the rancer or any other pets can be taken down so easily as in swg. lol luke had to use his brain and a metal door weighing tons to kill it, I wonder why luke didnt just punch it 3 times lol seems to work here lol

I thought the little thing that laughs at everyone that sits next to Jabba was there as a pest controler. It would clean Jabba of parasites and stuff.

Here is why Luke had difficulty against the rancor
1. He had no lightsaber
2. He still was a padawan. Though he called himself a jedi knight in reality his training was not complete until he confronted Darth Vader again.

Jabba also ate some of Greedo lol. He used some of Greedo's pheremones for a tasty treat after Han blasted him (Han shot first). I think this is a good idea!

I think it's a great idea, when you complete Jaba's quest you get a choice between the poster of Sy Snootles or a Gorax.
Jabba is not a CH though, otherwise he wouldn't need the other guy, Vex is right.

I've always thought Malakili should give out CH-specific quests (maybe evenan epic quest, if such a thing comes to fruition). He's pretty much the iconic Star Wars creature handler.
I mean, right now he's pretty much standing there doing nothing. Aside from needing palace access to get to him, he seems ideal for the role.
