Thread: Why groups still want CH.

When I go to a hunting planet like endor or darthmor and I have my MCH tags on I still get besiegd by invitations to join a hunting group. Everyone wants my pets out and they want as many as I can possibly call. So I call out my pets. group up and form up and go to the mission terminals to select my 2 missions. Then I notice something strange. There are like 16-20 people/pets in the group window list but most of them are blank meaning the group memeber is out of range. "What's this" I say to the leader standing nearby. "What's what" he/she says. I say "I am ready to hunt but where is everyone?" "Oh they are out hunting. once you have your missions go on and knock them over and come back for more." puzzled I reply "But where is the group?" "They're here on (insert planet name here) doing their missions." "But where is the group hunt and attack" I say getting an uneasy feeling. "???" he/she says. "What do you mean? you mean like where all of us attack a single lair? Nah that is passe. old data. what with the empire and all we now have killer armor and buffs like you would not believe. Add that to the elite training and we can solo anything here. So we all group together to get the highest mission payouts then go off and do our solo missions." Stunned silence from me. "Hmmmm." He says noticing that I am not wearing any armor "what combat skills do you have? "I am a Master Creature Handler" I hastly reply. "Yeah Yeah I see that from your tag but what combat experience do *you* have." "Pistols 4 from the marksman tree" I say (I have a bad feeling about this). The leader takes me by the hand and leads me to the cloning station. "Listen kid. you better clone yourself here and get good insurance on your stuff." "Actually you best just sit here and keep your pets company so the rest of us can get those high missions. You wouldn't last 5 seconds out there on your own." "But my pets---" "Are great" he interrupts me "for getting missions. They dont do so well out there. Its a dangerous world. You just sit there and knit or something. You a surveyor per chance. Prospect a bit. Shop on the bazaar. we wont be long." He walks back to the starport to try and add another player to the "solo" group. I look at my beloved cats and ponder the meaning of CH. "Well" I say at last. "At least we are still useful for something. I wonder if that is what the gods mean by a support profession."

LOL...indeed, but you forgot where they tell you to store your pets so more ppl can fit into the "solo" group. Remember when there was no such thing as solo grouping?...we could just get the high paying missions on advanced planets by our lonesome--sure, there was a chance we could get killed, but they fixed that!!!! Now we can't get the missions on our own,but we're darn near invincible w/buffs&armor!!!!!WooHooo!!!!!...no reason to make friends anymore!!!!!! Does this thread qualify as a rant?...cuz we don't wanna go makin the man mad'n'all!!!
Hunting with another CH is an absolute blast on the other hand. Fighting as a CH is a completely different style as many of you are aware, so playing with a person who understands the pet situation just enhances the experience for me.

It is not only about credits. The higher missions give you more MOBs which give you more experience for the new Jedi grind. Most people I run into are in it to grind weapon/combat XP. With armor and buffs most people can solo anything but can not get high level missions for the higher end stuff without a group. Yes, it is lame. I talked to one TKM who was doing it to get loot to finish his rug. lol Can you believe that is content for some one? Looking for adhesive so he can finish a rug. Kill thousands of Janta/Mokk looking for glue for a rug.????
Speaking of glue for rugs, I need some blue rug adhesive something fierce....
But seriously, MrHawat is on to something here. Again, the missions are offered based on your damage dealing abilities, not on your ability to absorb damage. Just like CL on pets, which manages to miss what pets are there for: damage spounges, meatshields, mobile armor. Which means that to to get the highest level missions (enraged rancors on Dath) you need to be in a large group, even though I was in an operational group of three on Saturday that went through enraged rancor lairs barely taking scratches, two TKMs unarmored but buffed and me, the grinding CH with master marksman, some BH skills, and TK novice, carefully clad in composite and fully buffed, sending in the GSP to tickle enraged rancors while a master pisoleer/TKM whupped on them and dealt most of the damage.
We were basically doing it for two things: the XP for the FS grind, and the money. I haven't been selling resources recently, and I'm paying 190k a week in maintenance on my MMI farm, so I need some cash. The reserves have fallen below 3.5 mil and this makes me nervous. Well, admittedly I was there also for nice CH XP (1300 points per enraged rancor with a GSP).
