[Disclaimer: I have nothing against Bio-Engineers as a whole, i am merely relating a simple anecdote. Read my post before flaming me. I do not hate all BEs, just those that are unduly cruel.]

A while ago, i was out rancor hunting on Dathomir. They were dropping great hide and my friend needed experience. Everything was going quite well.

I love brakasets. They're wonderful pets that i probably use more than any other. I've taken a liking to them beyond their simply their functionality, and try my hardest to avoid killing them. I give them a /hug or /pet whenever possible.

Our party arrived at the rancor lair. We had a large and skilled group, so the rancors weren't too tough to handle. We'd killed all that we saw around the lair, and proceeded to pound the lair. a few more popped, we killed, looted, destroyed the lair, and got paid. All was good. As the smoke cleared, we saw a final rancor just out of our range. He appeared to be in combat. Alas, he was attempting to kill a noble male brakaset from the lair next door. The poor thing was down to about 2/3 health, and nobely stood his ground to defend his herd, even though he knew hope was lost.

But hope was not lost. I screamed and charged into battle against the rancor, hoping my group would follow and not shoot the brakaset. Miraculously, they all focused on the rancor and he was quickly killed. Even more amazingly, not a single one turned on the brackaset afterwards.

The brakaset was alive and well, and i was relieved. He was still up, with about 1/3 of his health remaining. I went over to him while my friend set up camp. We became fast friends. I petted him, then hugged him.Hegave a whinny of delight. I huged him again and patted him on the head.He did a cute little dance andI swear I saw him smile. He was the most adorable brakaset I'd ever met, and that's saying quite a lot (I had 4 in my datapad at the time).

Then something happened. Without warning, the yellow text "a brakaset male" changed to a dull gray "corpse of a brakaset male", and he fell down dead. I was stunned and confused, with no idea what had happened. He still had some health left, so he could not have been 1-shotted. He never entered combat, he never even made a move except to dance and smile.

I hadn't seen the person come up next to me. I knew he was in my group, but i did not know him. His next statement made everything clear:

"Wow, he had some really good DNA!"

Now i understood. I was crushed. I burst into tears and mourned for the late brakaset. Camp had been set up, and we were right on the edge of it. At first my fellow compaitriots just watched is a cried, mourned, sniffed, and generally sadly emoted. But then, as if such a situation were not already miserable enough, one comes over.

Ovakito bites corpse a brakaset male on the leg

"Mmm, tasty"

Everyone else decides to join in, and i have at least 4 people eating the poor thing for dinner. They said he was quite delicious.

Camp was broken and the group moved on. I did not. I stay for the longest time, mourning over what was left of my brakaset. Oddly, his corpse did not disappear. It remained in the world for an exceptionally long time. Eventually, however, it despawned as the noble beast departed to a better place. Sadly, I went to go catch up with the group.

I will never forget that brakaset. He never harmed anything, but was prepared to sacrafice his life to defend his family. He was grateful for the rescue and we were friends within minutes. Now he is gone.

NeitherwillI ever forget the brutal murder committed by that Bio-Engineer. His was an act that should never be tolerated, and would not be committed by even the least reasonable of men. He was no man.

At least my brakaset had good DNA...

I vow never to sample from a brackaset as well.

Well, except for the Surefoot Brackasets. Their DNA really IS tasty. I'll bite its corpse's leg for good measure.

I feel your pain. My first mount, long ago now, was a Brackaset. There is something about 'em that is just cool. I can't explain it either. Cute little armored tanks. 8)

I feel the same way about dewbacks and gualamas. Won't kill them, and if I see a baby in a herd being attacked by players, I try to rescue it before it aggros.

Heh.... after reading the subject line, I assumed this was going to be a "BE's charge too damn much!" post.
