Thread: Bio-Pet Mounts NOT Following...anyone else having this problem?

Just bought a brand new level 60 cu pa, hardest hitting mount I've ever seen.

Anyway. Unless I'm not riding him, he does not follow me, I can spam 'f' over and over again (and yes, I've doublechecked the command), andthe pet will not do it.

I first noticed this on another one of my characters who also recently bought a non-CH mount. Exact same thing, would NOT follow me. I had to mount the pet to get it to go anywhere. Two separate characters, two different bio-pets made by two different MBEs.

Is this a known bug? And if so, can anyone point me to a thread where I can chime in on this problem? It's really annoying, especially since I paid 90K for this cu pa.

P.S. The mount on the 2nd character that would also not follow was a bol, so this problem is not limited to one species of pet.

This bug seems to me to have been introduced in Publish 6. I have /bugged it many times. Try using /TELLPET. It is not the BEST solution, but you can at least get you pet to follow you. If you use macros in your hotbar to talk to your pet, add a /tellpet to all of them. Makes life with pets that much easier. And you get the bonus that /TELLPET has been range than /SHOUT.

I think the bigger, moreannoying bug is the mount HAM bars not updating when you heal them. Or the bug where if yourmount is incapped you have to store them before you can get them back on their feet. I have tried to heal mine and the HAMs don't update and he lies there like a dead Dewey.

I seem to be having this problem with a gurrek I use for tanking. He'll do fine when I first pull him out but then I'll do a mission lair with him and after that, he just wont follow, we'll walk maybe 10 meters then stop. Or he'll follow me and as soon as I start to get going on my speeder he stops. It's annoying to see them right behind you and then seconds later 100 meters back. This gurrek used to be able to keep up with my speeder but now I have to completely stop, sometimes for 30 seconds straight just about every 5 seconds to get him to catch up. It's getting extremely annoying!

I have experienced both bugs, but I only had the problems with a be mount.

On a side note, I have a Rhoa Kwi Pack Leader that does the same thing, sort of. He will get 'stuck' behind certain planetary plants/rocks that none of my other pets will. I've lost him plenty of times in PvE hunts and not even noticed it until he was out of range (and I'm being agroed by 3 ravenous tortons).

Bio-engineers have been discussing this for quite some time now. We've come to the conclussion that the code used to ride vehicles has been used to control mounts. When you dismount a vehicle it doesn't follow you. It wouldn't surprise me to find out they wrote a code for "riding" instead of a code for vehicles and a code for mounts. That would explain why the problem effects only mounts.

A cu pa will follow commands just fine until you train it mount. I'm not sure why its so easy for us to figure these things out but it takes forever for them to be fixed. Its probably because all three devs are working on space expansion.

It seems there has been a stealth fix here. I checked last night, 5-5-04, and mounts seem to follow and listen to the FOLLOW ME command. I am not sure when this fix came into the game, since I have not used my pet in FOREVER since the bug was not getting any attention.

Thanks Devs, I am happy to have a well behaved mount again.

Fortunately, they remember the "stay" command as long as they're out of the datapad, too. It might not sound like a big deal, but I primarily use mymounts to go on shopping trips, galloping around from tent to tent.Mountsinsistent on following you aren't great for that;it's no fun trying to find a vendor in a merchant tent with a savage humbaba standing in there with you. *giggle* Just telling the pet to stay as soon as you call it from the datapad will cause it to stop wherever you dismount until you store it, though, which is very nice. Normally the devs seem to forget things like that, and I'm glad they didn't this time.
