Thread: do area attack pets exist

I am thinking they would help alot in getting xp if they could do area attacks. Does anyone know one that can?

mantigrue screecher, bull rancor, gaping spider recluse, frenzied graul
did i miss any?

They are extinct now, but some handlers still have and occassionally sell King and Queen Merek Harvesters. The King has Poison Spray while the Queen has Open wounds.
The Frenzied Graul is potentially extinct, or at least more rare than a Bull Rancor.
The others listed are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Of course, by the time you can use any of those pets you don't need xp

one of the gaping spider types has poison spray. I think it's the hunter.

I have 2 frenzied gruels, didt know they could do area damage

Well, with mantigrue screecher (lvl 55, 1 skill to go with 140k exp) and gaping spider recluse (lvl 44, at least 4 more skills to go...) you have plenty of things to attack, MrSensitive.

True, but not just that. You go out and tame a spider, and I am assuming you keep leveling while it grows in your datapad, by the time you get to a point where you could have this thing tank a group of mobs that will actually give a level 40+ critter some xp....will it be any worth?
I am not trying to shoot the idea down, but I know I xp with a level 16 pet unless I am hunting bigger critters for meat or drops in which case an over 40 pet or a 50gets the call, and the xp/heal time is still suspect.
What would be amazing is to find some <20 critter with a small area attack. Couple that with Strafe 2 and that would be somesick CH xp. Perhaps that is why these can't be put in to BE critters?

You are right there. The growing takes too long to use it for much grinding.
Well, i used a nice lvl 15 slice hound to get all my ch-skills. Higher level ones are just not giving enough exp.
But actually i'm glad BEs don't have Area attacks at all. That makes ch not completely senseless. Just imagine if you wouldn't even have to tame area attack pets yourself.

Yeah, I am glad BE's can't put all the specials in. I used a tusk cat for all my leveling. I dont' think I could ever let "cringer" go.
Just the other day though I started using some of my level 40-50 pets on dathomir and what a breath of fresh air! It was so nice not having to to try to keep my soft lil 2.9k Cat alive! I was so used to using little pets though that I panicked when 4 rancors jumped on my Arachne Webmaster....luckily he didn't panic ...in fact he was fine. He is so much tougher than me
