Thread: Wolf-type Creatures

Has anyone else ever noticed the extreme lack of wolf- or dog-type creatures to balance out the overabundance of cat's out there?

Sure there are some pathetic looking dogs out there...I personally hate slice hounds with apassion. But what about a creature that actually looks like a big dog, or a big wolf? Non-existant.

I don't know about you, but I get sick of just using cats because of thier speed. There should be some sort of wolf equivalent to balance it out and give some choice. Heck, even a stereoypical catroon wolf, where it's an overly long straggly body would be cool, so long as it's equivalent to the panther-type cats.

Just a thought.

I do believe Kusaks count as dog like.

/wholeheartedly agree!

Yeah, kusaks/huurtons look like dogs, sort of. Just think of the love the animators spent on all those different kinds ofcats and all the dog-lovers got were these goofy looking puppies. I'd love tohave a majestic space-rottweilerorsome other kindof wardog toguardme from the beasties. Right now, I'd be happy with a dachshund.

cats:

- wrix

- gurrcat

- great plains stalker

- narglatch

dogs:

- kusak/huurton/slice hound (let's face it, they have different textures, but they're essentially the same except for the teeth pointing down/no teeth/upward, that doesn't constitute a real difference)

- ?

I don't think thereare any other. I'm not counting incarnations of the same base model like gurrecks for wrix's, etc, whichputs the score at cats: 4 vs dogs: 1

Cat lovers get lion-like animals with the narglatch, leopardish stuff with the gurrcat, and housecat with the wrix. I can't really classify the GSP

Dog lovers get terriers, and I don't really like terriers (I could be wrong about the name, but you all know the type, short legs, strong jaw, pretty small usually)

I sure wouldn't mind an animal more wolf-like, as well as a 'real' (sorry to terrier-worshippers for the lack of better term) dog, think german sheppard, labrador, golden retriever, the stuff every kid would attempt to draw when you ask it to draw a dog. They always end up drawing terriers instead

Hehe, I could imagine Cyborrean Battle Dogs, CL 35 or something like that.

Put me down for a wolf-type creature.

Oh, and I'll take one of those vornskrs you've got there, too.

I've long been annoyed by the handling of creatures in this game as it pertains to actual Star Wars and SW Expanded data. How could creature mounts be introduced without banthas, cupas (close enough to Tauns), eopies, rancors, or any of the other pets that we've so often seen ridden?

And while we're at it, can we please have a flying mount? Doesn't have to go high or any faster then a land-based. But it would be fun! Pretty please?

I'll take a battle-dog of some sort . . . I'm rather sick of Spuds McKenzie myself. I could even deal if they weren't necessarily bigger (everything smaller than a crimson looks time to a wookiee), but they just looked better and acted meaner. *chuckles* Even something like those rat-dog things from the movie Willow would be cool. I know they have their SW equivilant (they were in one of the comics) but I can't remember what they are right now.

Ug, I hate monkeys . . . although Lokarr on Scylla once trained this little monkey thing from Dathomir, I think it was . . . I don't remember what they were called but they look like these little possesed starving kids on crack. He named it Timmy and would have it follow people around just creeping them out.

I object to this "can't stand slice hounds" business. The Corellian slice hound is the noblest of all creatures.

I'm a dog-collector myself. Current holdings include:

slice hound (my first post-Beta tame)

male forest slice hound

huurton huntress

frenzied choku

Nym's kusak guardian

I tend to agree that we need more canines, and more powerful canines. There aren't any that are even strong enough to get light armor. They might not be speedy or strong, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a more loyal and trusty companion.

There's this site out there somewhere that's a spoof on MMO's . . . something like Dungeon Crawler Siege Fiasco Sports Night 7 or something like that . . . anyways it has this list of creatures in the game, and they are all raccoons. A small raccoon, a medium raccoon, a red raccoon, a rabid red raccoon, an enranged red rabid raccoon, and so on. That's all I could think of when reading that "dog" list, Vert.
