Thread: What i would like to do while mounted (from a master ranger)

Hi guys, let me introduce myself saying i am a Master Ranger on StarSider and i consider the CH class a sort of "cousin" class, respecting it very much.
I am an hunter and i really HATE to have to use speeders,swoops and stuff.. but sadly, not having infinite time to spare, as anyone i have them in my datapad and i use them often, probably more ofetn that my beloved Otto (my Dewback)..
Actually when i hunt i usually prefer to use amount (cause vehicles are so fast you often don t give time to spawns to appear) and even if i like the fact i can shoot from my mount, this feature (even if cool) is not that usefull since i always have to go down from my mount to ahrvest (and i find it fair)..
So what i actually use the mount for is actually for (exploring) but what helps me a LOT doing that is the use of tracking, i know that it s a skill only related to rangers but i would REALLY LOVE to be able to track while mounted.
I don t see any reason why this should be impossible (i mean while harvesting creatures while i am 2 meters high from terrain is not realistic looking at tracks from my mount is no way unrealistic... ) i see only reasons that will make mounts a "bit" more usefull for ourselves (and making the ranger class one of your loyal customers).
So i kindly ask if in your "wish list" would add the ability for rangers to track while mounted (i think it woul benefit us both as well as ch/ranger guys that would find tracking a great friend to track down babies)

No, thanks for posting; I just decided to go for Master Ranger the other night to compliment my CH skills, so that was a very informative post. I'd also add to that just being able to converse with NPC's while mounted as well. That's also very annoying, having to hop up and down.

exactly... i understand that on swoops and other vehicles that make a terrible noise but i really don t understand why i can t talk while mounted!
it s just plain stupid..i think you ch should insist a LOT on be able to do more things while mounted (imho)

I'd like to see MCH or even high lvl ch's be able to use certain specials while mounted. Nothing like my strafe2 mind but maybe all the "1" special shots. Jus' a thought, I dunno

This was brought at Fanfest during the scout, Ranger, and C/H forum. They liked the idea.
We will see.

Being part Ranger myself I made a macro to track while mounted. It works great for speeders and mounts. All I do is (and I forget the syntax): unmount, wait, areatrack, wait, mount. This works great but the catch is that you have to have your vehicle/pet targeted for the mount to work. As long as you click your mount/vehicle before using the macro it is a pretty painless way to track. Just my two cents.

If your normal mount is one vehicle type or one specific creature you can add that to the macro. For creatures you have to include the parenthesis. I have a mount command that is /target (Sandy) /pause .1 /mount. No need to manually target.

if anything they should be able to track even farther away from on top of taller mounts. considering they'd have a better vantage point.

I would like to see, maybe not just for mounts, the ability to increase my tracking range by using a cat or dog creature. I constantly have my cats out with me when I'm tracking - it would be nice to get a bonus to range when I have them out and grouped.Maybe extend the range to 1km or something?

i my self am going master ch/master riflemen/ranger 0030 for area track and distance..... this comes in so handy i can find babys all the time and level and harvest fast..... would love to be able to area track while mounted..... dont think that 1km is right more like maybe a 250-500m would be more like it..... then you could be big pimping on my mount... and if they do the pet add's to your range.... then i could scan for like 1.5km lol with my mch calling more than one pet.... hehe.... so hope they implement this..... /drool
hehe..... probably wont add it but it lets you use your imagingation and think of what could be
