To my knowledge, Plains Hunters don't spawn babies. The only reason I have one is because I purchased her right after the big Pet Nerf of Aug '03, when they pulled 3/4 of the best babies out, if you were were around back then to rememberit

Found my Great Plains Stalker by PURE chance - third pop Igot - and I'm helping a friend find one,but we haven't seen one adult in three days.

I hope they reinstate medium armor into the higher level TAMABLE pets, and restrict BE'd pets to Light. At least then there'd be more incentive to track these suckers down, instead of finding one and hoarding it in your dpad because you're scared if you use it one of the game's MANY bugs will do something to screw you (crash/logout/poof/not heal/vitality issues/command broken/run away/auto-tef in wrong city/etc).

Finally found a lair last night around 3:30AM in the MidWest Region. Nabbed 2 baby Wasteland Cu pa's.

My relief is beyond words as I was not about to turn this into some sort of obsessive GPS hunt or something.

As someone else posted, once you find a spawn, the chances of babies are very high, it's just finding a spawn that is tough.

Nabbed my first rare the other day. Interesting story. Seems there were not one, but TWO spawn of Frenzied Grauls next to my house on Dantooine. I proceeded to buff up, dawn my armor and get my favorite hunting companion, Narsh (a tamed Rancor) to assist. Cleared the first spawn of 3 frenzieds. Seemed to be about 9 after respawns. Then moved to the next spawn right across the river. Interestingly enough, they just kept spawning. When it was all over, I had tagged 49 of the large beasts. I also had to let Narsh rest and use some of his brethren to assist. He was just getting tried.

I know I killed 49 of them from doing the math against my hides. It is also conceivable that I missed one or two hides in the forray. So it was at least 49 and maybe as much as the low 50s. Surprisingly enough, or maybe not so surprisingly, there were no babies. You ask, so where is the rare you tamed. Aha! That is where the story takes a turn for the better. In my grief at not finding a baby frenzied, I took to the areas around my home in search of some other possible spawns. I figured... hey there were two right here, maybe there are more around.

Well.. I did not find any more frenzieds but I did find a spawn of some Thune Grassland Guardians. I killed the two and on the next respawn, low and behold... a baby. So I tamed it on my first try. Just to be thorough, I went through the rest of the respawns to make sure no more popped.

So... my first rare. I admittedly have not spent much time in the pursuit of rares. It takes much patience for which I am not known.

Perhaps I will find a few more as the months go by.

Of the above list, I spend much of my ingame time around most of these. I do not spend much time around the widow because I dont think any of the spiders have 60 kinetic. Stalker the same. I have not paid attention to the Screecher. Merek Deaths Head hits like a ton but has resist all 10 and armor, so not much value for cloning. I did see a rhoa kwi pack leader baby, but it was too high for me to tame. For cloning value, for PvE I would put the best at the top and redo the list as...

The MDH is an excellent source of DNA samples. As you say, it hits like a ton, and as you don't say, it has Strong Disease and Strong Poison specials. Combining MDH samples in with, say, Merek Harvester samples can lead you to an AR1 60% Kinetic creature with high damage and two very nice DoT specials. The Harvester's damage is nothing to sneer at, either. Combining MDH samples with something like Huurton Pup samples can lead to a CL10 creature with those two nice DoTs.

Also, the Widow has 40% Kin, 40% Ene, 70% Heat and 80% Acid, which makes her very nice to take with you when killing those pesky NPCs who like to whip out various types of guns. She's fairly hopeless against Blast and Electricity though, and vulnerable to Stun, but still, for all round value I think only the Bull Rancor exceeds. The Screecher doesn't do much for me; 35% for Kinetic and Energy and all that rarity, when you could just go tame one of the many Webmaster babies that are around and get the Strong Poison instead of the Plague Strike special.

(I found my Widow baby... a month after surrendering CH. It didn't go to waste though, I notified a nearby MCH who came by and tamed it.)

there was no reason for you to bring back a topic that has been dead for *3 months*.
