Thread: Hello, NCH question abou PvE tanks

Ok currently the olny proff I seem to be able to keep is CH(cause its teh best!!:smileyvery-happy
. But unfortuantly for me I'm not to good in combat proffs and I can take on most things but just not the big stuff. But I want the CH and combat xp from killing the big creatures. I was thinking about getting a BE to create me a Rancor with high HAM and resist, but thats it. The only problem is right now I don't have enough money to just go and get one and nor can I even tame one XD. I'm currently a 0/0/1/0 CH(sad I know). But the only other thing I can think of is a Huf Dun but once they get past lvl 14 I can't even use it anymore. I currently have an ok HAM bantha(don't know hte exact numbers). But then I did a few misisons on dat and it got killed by a mod of like 5 savage quenkers and I couldn't kill them fast enough. So I'm asking any CH for advice right now and any of it will be most appreciated ^_^.

i think your best bet first of all is to try and level up your own combat skills to a point where you can kill qunkers fairly quickly, then work on building up ch. the problem is, at lower levels, creatures just won't stand up to much on an onslaught from several mobs at once, so the answer is to either take on easier mobs, or be able to tank for yourself. i find tanking myself a lot quicker, both in temrs of the mone i can earn, and the ch xp i can get, than taking on enemies that my pets can stand up against alone.
you might also consider focussing on building up money for a good be pet first, or even better, find a large hunting group you can accompany against some harder creatures, and then let your pet attack for a few seconds, ensuring it gets some damage to the enemy, then call int away and simply wait with it.
i was getting 2k xp per canyon krayt drago tonight, unfortunately my razorcat wouldn't obey my stay command, and always rushed to my aid when i started geting attacked, even though i didn't use the guard command at any time! aww, isn't he sweet, i only got him tonight too off another member of my guild

o_O per krayt dragon, the day that I can take on krayt dragons, won't be here for a very very very long time. V_V I can only play on the weekends until I get a new cmoputer and I'm not sure when that might be ;_;. But thanks for the help. But finding a group of people to go hunting with like that is extremely rare imo. I never find anyone to help and my guild is no help what-so-ever.

Well, first off, you won't be able to use a BE rancor till you can utilize a level 35 pet.
That being said, here's my suggestion. Go out and tame a pet. I would say probably a Cu Pa, but a zucca boar is nice too. Also, maybe a krevol on naboo, I've heard they are good as well. Then goto Kareen. Target a critter, sick your pet on it, then blast it away after it damages it. Take pet stims with ya so you can heal it as needed. You should be able to get a couple more boxes quick. Then when you get to be able to use level 20 pets, get a dewback, nice mount and decent attack.
Also, you have to remember, you can't tame anything that is going to grow up bigger than what you can handle. So if the Huf Dun is over level 14 when adult, you can't tame the baby.

be rancors are overrated, just because teh skin is scary, does not mean it is worth a you know what. I have a level 19 langlatch with 60% kenetic and 1500 Health that would be perfect for you, dont get hung up on the rancor skin.

I just thought of something else. You should try a Rock Beetle (CL 13) 2200 Health. I know they've been nerfed big time, but if I'm not mistaken they by far have the highest health for any creature at that low of a level. Check www.swgcreatures.comfor waypoints.

Alright thanks for the help, next I'll be able to play I'll send yall a tell. But now I know why I can't use my torton anymore V_V. Also I dohave a cu pa but it only has 1k HAM and it kinda stinks imo, and I only use it for mount, because my bantha is to slow. Oh but I don't have a lvl 9 kilink or w/e. Once that reaches 15 could that help me? Or should I just get high enough to use the lvl 19 starter pets that the BE guy is gonna make for new members?

You should get the best thing you can get your hands on. And worry about the rest as it comes...
The BE is a woman. We should not assume pronouns, just a head up.

i don't know how viable it is now adays, since i avoid mining outpost on Dant, but what i did to master CH was get to CL25 pets... (don't remember the boxes needed) and go to yavin a get a Crystal snake. These pets not only look badass, but they are almost invisable, so groups won't compalin about not being able to see past it or getting in the way. Now if they still have the Voritor hunter groups, grab a spot in one of them, and then pull the little snakey out, and he should be very useful... i got about 840 CH xp per kill, which isn't huge, but when everyone has 2 missions and each mission has 6+ mobs, it adds up quick. Also i had several times wheere he actually saved my group by tanking an ad on lizard by himself.... I was sad to give him away, but i know he was probably put to good use.

Hey man, I just saw you were on Kettemoor. If you find your Guild unhelpful you should consider joining BEAST. We are not a mega guild on Kettemoor with tons of resources, but we do have a few members who like helping each other out. Right now I'm working with a BE to get some armored CL 19 starter pets for new members who need help leveling. Plus, I'm working on a Geonosian Cave pet for the occasional super leveling.
And Indene and I would like to do some hunts. We were out killin rancors last night, you could skim a lot of XP off the top from us.
Basically we're just tryin to help each other out.
/tell Indene or Chroniculous in game, and we'll talk.
To answer your question. Try finding a BE pet with high health for you. And yes, worry about upping your combat skills, and don't worry about Rancors til later.

Also going on group hunts (BEAST or at least me HATE solo groups). As part of the team you can attack bigger creatures. As long as your pet gets at least 1 hit on the creature and is not INCAP when the creature is killed you should get full CH xp for that kill. I used to have a SpineFlap guard that I would use and send it in when the creature was nearly dead (harder for it to dodge the little spineflap). It was great fun imaniging the AirForce comming to the rescue. Hey we were as bad off as the creature near the end of a big battle )-Indene-
