i'm a fairly new (2211) creature handler, and i just want to confirm a few things.
the "taming wild creatures" skill mod, i assume is directly related to the creature's dificulty level? ie, i now have a taming wild skill of 35, so i should be able to tame cl 35 creatures?
the "taming vicious creatures" skill, is directly related to the viciousness of the creature? ie, at the minute it's 10, so i can tame anything up to ferocity 10?
i'd be very appreciative if any of you could fill me in, i've only started focussing on ch after mastering tka, it's a very fun profession, more so than tka, but i want to know if it's worth my while trying to find a cl 25, ferocity 7 greater sludge panther baby to tame.
many thanks.

Taming wild is basically the max cl you cna tame if the creatures non agro (adult are yellow on radar)
taming vicious is the max cl you can tame for an agro type (ie adults are red on radar) as far as im aware ferocity has no real effect anymore (it used to be extreamyl ferocious pet woudl attack the nearest viable target wnhe called)

The + taming skills increase your chances for a successful tame. You tame in two attempts instead of four as an example. The Vicious refers to agro creatures, the ones that show red on the radar. At 2211 you already have the ability to train vicious. I use +25 to both just to increase my chances of a successful tame on the first or second try. I am MCH and the + to vicious is also needed to use CL65+ agro BE pets if you are not a wookie.

so basically at the minute, a non agressive creature i can tame up to cl 35 (even though i'll only be able to use it up to level 24) and an agressive creature, i can tame up to cl 10?
i was also told that the highest cl tame i can make is actually my maximum pet level (24 atm) and thr taming wild/taming vicious only affect the chance of this.
i suppose it's just a case of trial and error, but i don't fancy looking around for a rare spawn only to find i can't tame it.

yes, but it ALSO affects your chances to successfully tame. if it's bare minimum to tame an animal of that level, you're going to fail a lot more than if you had, say, +40 over that.
i was also told that the highest cl tame i can make is actually my maximum pet level (24 atm) and thr taming wild/taming vicious only affect the chance of this.
whoever told you that is ignorant. it only affects the clvl you can control, not what you can tame.
(note: when calling a pet from dpad, your taming mod is checked again, and if it's not sufficient, you won't be able to call the animal regardless of your max clvl mod)

The previous posts weren't clear and in some cases incorrect.
The taming skill mod only increases your chance of a successful tame. It has nothing to do with the level of creatures that you may tame. For example, if you have +50 taming, your chances of a successful tame will be much greater, but you will not be able to tame a CL 50 creature. The same applies for vicious creatures.
Therefore, if you are a 2/2/2/2 CH, you would be able to tame a CL 28 creature, no matter what your taming mods are.
Just a side note. If you are planning on sticking with CH, you may want to purchase some Bio Engineered clothes with taming wild/vicious mods of +25, and stay away from the first taming skill tree. This way you can focus your efforts in say...training so you can have more pets, as opposed to wasting skill points in a skill which you can essentially purchase.
Hope this helps

Digi,
Are you saying that he can tame a CL 35 because he has +35 taming, but can only control CL 25 because of CL level from obtaining skill boxes? BEcause that is what he said.
I may be mistaken but this seems entirely untrue.

that is not what i said.
everything i typed was under the assumption that your max clvl mod was sufficient for any animal that might be in question.

Then you didn't clearly read the question he placed before you, and which you agreed to.
HE, not you, asked can "I tame a CL 35 because I have +35 taming, but can only control CL 24 because that is my CL"
At which point you said yes, and added the part about successful tame.
I'm just clarifying, cos this would be news to me.

Didn't expect you to, I was just making sure I understood the rules, and more importantly that his question was properly answered.

no need for hostilities, chaps.
i got the info i needed - the max cl pet i can tame is equal to the max pet level in my mods, and taming affects only the chance of a successful tame.
i shall have a look for some be clothing tonight. cheers fellas.
