Hello all,
Well it all came to a head last night. I was doing missions ondantooine, using my two BE'd cats. I had recently purchased an x34 speeder, and thought that my cats would be able to run behind the speeder and all would be well.
Then a very serious issue cropped up. After every mission, as I would get into my speeder, and move on to the next mission or back to get more missions, invariably one of my pets would quit following me. They would go slow, ptiching their heads back and forth like they weren't sure where they are. So for the next 3 hours (how long my buffs lasted) I drove in gigantic circles, trying to coax my pets from mission to mission etc. It's really sad, because every several messions, they would lose their retardedness, and run behind me like normal. So I know it is possible for them to follow me normally. Therefore I am assuming it is a bug that they quit following me and basically lose their way.
This bug has been in the game since launch.
After the 3 hours of agony, I realized that CH was a complete waste of my time, and that I will be dropping this profession, until it is fixed.
I also wanted to state my opinion that a bug this serious relegates creature handlers to a second class citizenry as far as the game is concerned. When I started running my missions, I had several guildies playing with me. After getting sick of waiting on my pets, they all went their separate ways, and I was forced to play alone.
Also, those said guildies were doing 2 missions, for every mission I was able to complete. This puts creature handlers at a very serious disadvantage in the overall game economy. If a person can make twice as much money as you in the same amount of time, and we all play on a limited amount of time, how are you supposed to be able to compete for the resources to enjoy the game to its fullest extent. When other people can just plop down 2-3 million creds for an item, I just wonder, how could I do that.
I plan to continue posting on this topic weekly to check up on the status of possible fixes, to what is ruining an otherwise fun and compelling profession. If there are any devs or correspondants who have knowledge of this particular bug, and would care to comment on when its possible fix will happen, I would greatly appreciate that. Until then, expect to hear from me next week to check on the status of a possible fix. Meanwhile, I'm gonna go drop all of my CH skills and pick up something that isn't/is less broken than this one.

It's in there - but I don't feel this is the most important issue. If calling delays (outside of combat) are eliminated, then we'll be able to transport our weapons from place to place like normal people.

Yeah, this is currently #10 on our Issue/Request list. I think the main reason it has dropped in visibility is because people tend to ride vehicles out to the lair, then just call the pets when they arrive.
One workaround that often seems to help is to use the pet's "Feed" option when they start exhibiting this behavior. Even if you don't have any food or they aren't hungry, trying to Feed them will cause the pet to stop in place and turn to face you. This seems to "kick start" it back into a normal movement pattern.
But I agree, the stopping/slowing down while following is very frustrating (particularly during a group hunt).

This bug is annoying and I must say I have seen it more on Dantooine than other planets. It seems to be one of those bugs though that is hard to reproduce (sometimes storing and recalling a pet "fixes" it).
Maybe if we can work to narrow down how the Devs can reliably reproduce this we can get some better attention on it.

I play with buffed pets, so storing the pets between missions is not an option.

If I have to stop and feed them every 30 sec I might as well not even call them till I get to the lair.
BTW get to a lair, throw down a camp and call pets in 12-15 sec instead of 45-50 sec for all 3

I personally go on foot whenI have my pets out, unlessI have a long distance to go. Granted my pets are not that uber at this point
, so i worry more about them getting hurt than me and therefore store them when I am in my vehicle. Still,I can see why the problem need to be fixed.

My Nargalatches of Death follow my speeder pretty good except over water... if I do a quick circle or two around them they seem to get unstuck... or if I play with them (trick 2...into a follow command.)

the tricks and feeding usually work for this... dant has always been a bad planet for me, seemed like the old boundry issuse was at its worst there... since you play with your pets buffed you can't store and call with tent efficently... another thing that sometimes works is targeting your vechile and telling them to follow other on it (they keep up better)... i always trained my pets different commands for everything, so when one was being buggy i could keep telling that one to follow the other pet...
this bug can be broken, but it always seemed to happen more with the larger skins of cratures, they get caught on trees, rocks, a hole in the ground and start walking sideways... steep hills are bad too... i used to play with my pets buffed before, so i feel you pain... just be happy it happens alot less often now, what a pain feeding your mauler every 3 steps...

I play on dant alot and this is a very annoying problem. hunting on dant is work, I mean work in the way of filling hunting contracts. work arounds do not get it, they cost as much time as the problem. we need pathing issues solved period. the devs have had more than enough time to work on this matter. Imho, fix this or get rid of the delay. what good is the delay? the same "greifing" could be solved by simply not allowing pets to be called in combat we do not need a mega delay also.

Interesting point above about the Feed option to snap them out of it...I'll give it a go cos I get this myself.
I often use the feed option if petstims / stims aren't showing up or having no effect.
Another petty annoyance is the fact that buffing foods don't have any food value when they say "I'm hungry" so I have to carry bofa treats around too.
On a happier not, only one box till I'm a Master CH again
Only took a week this time - first time round took me 3 months!
