I am a Master Rifleman and I have spent the last week trying to decide what I wanted to pair it with. I was in the middle of starting on Swordsman for the double mind attacks, when I came to the conclusion that I do not want anotherpure combat profession.Nor do I want a crafting skill. This pretty well narrowed it down for me. Creature Handler.

I took a two month break from the game due to a not so slight case of burnout, and I think that the leisurely pace I plan to use this timeto master CH will suit me better. I have had CH before to help master my other combat professions but I never took it seriously. It was purely for the meatshielding they provided. It was only when I came back to the game and thought back to what I enjoyed most that it hit me. The most fun I ever had, besides setting people on fire in my commando days, was finding, taming, and then using my pets. Not as damage dealers, but as a means of support while I did the serious damage with my rifle.

I know that CH has been kneecapped repeatedly, and probably will be again unfortunately. For me, the Rifleman/CH combo accomplishes everything I need in this game. Rifleman lets me kill things in large numbers for lots of cash, and CH lets me explore while giving me a sense of accomplishment. My only real gripe is that I got rid of all my scout xp whenI came back to free up the skill points.

I just wanted to check in with the community at the beginning of this so you would know where I am coming from and where I hope to go as a CH,those of you that care anyway . I will be back from time to time, but hopefully more often than notit will be to reply to someonerather than to sumbit a question of my own.

I'm MRM and MCH. I can solo just about anything (unbuffed) as long as its not over level 135 or so. I have enough skill pts left over for plenty of med skills to keep me all healed up. When grouped with my pets and a droid I can get lvl 57 missions on Dant for 20k that I can solo very easy.

However if for some reason I get something to agro me, I'm dead. I have nothing to speak of in melee defense. Plus, any melee profession can do everything I do plus a bit more. I die a lot in PvP , don't even think of pulling a pet out because you will be sick about how fast it dies.

All that being said I do like CH. It's a fun profession that is rewarding. I get to have a pretty wide range of pets to choose from and they are my best buds ingame. Well, thats my 2 creds worth.

Oh yeah, welcome to the club

Well I'm new to SWG and CH having done both for about 6 weeks. I'm not grinding and I'm also working on MRM. I'm finding it a blast. The past few days me and a couple of friends have been just buffing and running endor missions for hide and it can get boring. Two things make it stay fun, my friends, and the pets I can pull out in town for goofy moments.

I enjoy the taming actually, got my first arachne last night, a low level one but hey its a start. I also got two boar wolves and two gurrecks there that rock as tanks on correllia or naboo. I still haven't figured out how you guys take on some of the higher level mobs alone and unbuffed but I'm learning. I may try other trades later but I don't think I'll be giving up my pets or CH. I enjoy them not just for PvE but just for the fact I have them. Its fun to ride a cu pa around town, I'll be glad when I can have a grown gurreck out at the same time to follow me but I have a box or two yet for that.

Getting closer to MCH one tame at a time

I am always amazed at how many people pick up the profession for practical purposes and later realize that it is really fun. They stick with it despite the problems because it is so different from anything else out there. (Although it makes me sad to think how much we have been abused considering we were the best working and one of the most fun professions.)

Good luck with it. I hope you enjoy it since you want to pick it back up for the "right" reasons.

I decided to try CH back in beta (just to try something new). After getting my first skill box I found a baby swamp stalkercompletlyout of luckand from that moment on I never looked back. CH is the best profession and what I like very much is that no powergammer can really enjoy ch. I saw a hologrinder once who had gave up his hologrinding after 3 professions or so simply because he didn't want to master ch... made me feel good for some reason...

Long live CH!

I can solo anything short of a Giant Canyon Krayt or the Gorax in the game. I am not master rifleman, however I am level IV commando with Flamer and I love my template, had the same thing for 6 months now.

this sums it up...

"Not as damage dealers, but as a means of support while I did the serious damage with my rifle."

You are a guy with the proper outlook on the profession.

Props.
