Thread: Regarding Publish 21: What About Mounts?

In particular, what about the CL 10 creatures I tame to make into mounts to sell to non-CHs? Will I have to hunt with them in order for them to get big enough to be trained as mounts? These pets are really not something I want to use for hunting and at this time, I just tame them, then hold them in my data pad until they are big enough to be made into mounts... and I really prefer to be able to do it that way.

It's a good question, and one that I would like to know the answer too!
I would imagine, as its the impression i get, that even though the little blighters start with full adult stats they are still little-mini beasties and as they mature they get bigger. I could be wrong of course.

I'm confused about this as well. I have a lvl 10 cu pa in my datapad and there is no option to train as a mount...what do I have to do to train it as a mount? I looked at the sticky with the new information and didn't see anything about mounts.

The pet needs to be of a certain size before the 'Train Pet as a Mount' option shows up in the Pet command window.

The size of a pet is influenced by its 'maturity level'.

This means that you will need to use the pet in combat for a couple of missions, until it has gained enough Training XP to trip the Maturity Level a few times.

Looks to me like the time from Tame to Sell for mounts is much lower now cuz it doesnt take long to get enough exp to get the pet to grow.. Just adds an extra step though.

Yes, you will have to use them until they are large enough to mount. This will go for BE pets, too, I imagine. Considering their general usefulness and the work going to be involved in raising them, I expect mounts to become more expensive to be worth our time.

Oddly enough Giant Carrion Spats can be mounted as soon as they're trained. They're so large even as a noob that they can be saddled. It's probably the same for other "giant" mounts...of which I don't think there are any.

Something to consider....

Fleet Footed L3. The smart CH that hunts down Fleet Footed L1, L2, and L3 will be able to create, in theory, much faster mounts. Add the Knockdown Attack L1 to the mount and suddenly you have a Cl10 mount that many will be willing to pay a decent price for.

It would def lesen the time it takes to train a pet as a mount. Which I think is better than waiting a few days... If I am holding a pet for a friend that wants a mount it can get annoying because that is a space that is being taken up. So if I have this correct, all we would have to do is let that potential mount fight a few missions and it should be ready?

Thanks -Neaj

I suspect the mount code will not let them go any faster while being ridden as one of these running behind a player is as slow as any other pet. I would be happy to be wrong, but I am fairly sure they will need to specifically work on mounts to see this happen.

When the speeds of pets and droids were broken, mount speed, while being ridden, was not effected. See the CH FAQ for speed information. Mounts that are not being ridden do suffer the slowdown. I plan to retest the mounted speeds as soon as I can teach the Fleet Footed skills.

Fleet Footed L1 was most often found on flewt babies.
