OK, I have been working on CH as I wanted to get some decent pets to support my BH.
Now in every profession I have played you always wanted to get the absoulte best weapon you could get because the more damage you did the more XP you got.
So I start CH. Had the pet do 90% of the damage and then kill it with my weapons and little XP. So I find that if your pet hits at all you get same XP. If you have 2 pets XP is split? If you use a really strong Creature you need to fight even stronger Creatures to get any decent XP because its based on lvl difference.
So here is the problem: Normally as you lvl you get better skills so you use them to help lvl. It seems CH is backwards. It seems that you should use the weakest pet you have and kill the mob yourself so that you get maximum XP. Should I go tame some lvl 1 pets and tank the mob for the pet to lvl fast? Is this correct? Seems crazy.
This doesn't seem right but it seems as you lvl CH that you can't really use the better Pets for lvling because it reduces your XP.

Yeah, CH XP tends to work a lot differently than most weapon-based combat XP forms. The system punishes you if you're winning easier battles by using a pet that's stronger than your opponent... but just using a CL 1 pet against rancors shouldn't be working well either. There's a "sweet spot" somewhere in the middle that's supposed to maximize your XP gains. I've been reading a few reports of CH XP weirdness since the 11.3 patch went up, though, so this may or may not still be working quite right.
It actually works in our favor that pets only have to score a single point of damage to get full XP credit, though. Most pets really do not excel in the area of damage-dealing at all, so a Creature Handler would otherwise find himself "stealing" XP with his weapon that he'd rather have earned through his pet.

I know that when I was trying to level, I went out with Ahkn and hunted bull rancors. I was using a GSP, level 25 and I beleive I was hitting for a little over 1000 xp per kill. Can't remember exactly, but might want to check that out. Also, there is a good guide on utilizing the Geo Cave for CH xp in this forum by Meastro, check that out. might help.
Another way, is get a pet that is half your creature maximum and go hunting. Say, if your maximum is level 25, go hunting GSP's and use a cu pa, or a lower level bantha, I think there is one that is level 15. That way you can ride around on it and kill. And before you attempt to kill anything, make sure to see if there are any babies around, and tame each and every dang one of them.
Also, another thing you could do, is go up the...uh....training line I think it is, first, cause you will get the patrol command, which will give you 3 commands, (patrol, get patrol point, clear patrol point) then at level IV you get 2 more, (Wedge Formation, Colum Formation) This line with the first 4 boxes will give you a total of 11 or 12 commands if I remember right, and you get xp for each command you teach.
The last way that I can think of is get novice CH and novice BE, and when you ain't out hunting, goto a NPC city like on Nabo or Tatooine and just take samples, once you have like 50 or so, make animals, (with those samples, they should be under level 10 or so) and then train and release them. Might be a bit longer, but you will get a set amount of 100 xp per command trained.
Just some ideas to kick out. hope they help.

I leveled the finall part of CH with a Cowardly Gurreck in the Geno caves it worked realy well send ure pet in as all the looters pile on the the poor crazed genos iff ure lucky and ure pet can land a hit in under 2 seconds u should have a very nice chunk of xp and ure pet hopefully won't get hurt, only bad thing is that u have to go back to train alot, i got 2 lines of CHin about an hour...... i think

I actually noticed that my lvl 10 uber pet was getting me the best xp. After it died a few timesI used a vitality pack on it, and reduced it's max vitality to 96(?). This oddly enough has gotten me more xps per kill. I was getting 900+ off rancors now I'm getting a little over 1k/rancor. weird

i feel bad doin this but heres an the easiest way to afk level CH
i did it in like 2-3 days on a rainy weekend
find a decent npc spawn
i used the swoopers in tatooine
started a newb group who were all grinding either tk and rifles
make macro loop pet attack command (something like this)
/cycleTargetOutward;
/tellpet attack;
/pause .01;
/loot;
/macro (nameofthismacro)
if they get looted its just a continuous spawn of npcs that were give me like 120 CH xp every second or 2, sometimes even faster as they died almost instantly and the xp just kept popin up - then just wait till u max out - find a player city or nearest CH trainer -go back and repeat

oh yeah and if ur by urself at npc spawn use this tactic
make macro that does this
/targeCycleOutward;
/tellpet attack;
/pause 1 (or how ever long it takes pet to hit npconce)
/attack; = this has u kill npc so u get full pet xp and u dont have to wait for ur creature to slowly kill him
/pause 2; (only needed if u miss the first few shot/swing)
/loot; - keeps the spawn comin
/macro (name)

I use this while in the field, but you could use it for macro looting/kills:
/ui action targetSelf
guard (tells the pet to guard you)
Then run a macro for you to target NPCs and either tell pet kill or you shoot first and pet attacks once they target you.
This works better for NPCs that require more than 1 hit to kill and also provides protection in case more than 1 spawn at a time as your pet will automatically move to the next NPC once one is dead.

One quick tip when AFK macroing CH is to do it for a little while at the keyboard to find out how long your pet can last without dieing. This will let you know when you would need to come back and heal your pet, or write a longer more complicated macro to auto-heal your pet.
Also write /tellpet macros for all of your commandsand put them in one of your empty toolbars. This saves time typing out all the commands when training. And for the tame/train/release babies I puta "/tellpet learn" macro in my main toolbar and trained each command with it, this saved me from accidently telling my pet to do trick 2 when I wanted it to attackbecauseI didn't switch to my main.

Only problem with that is that the single letter commands don't seem to work with a tellpet macro.

i did a little bit of all ideas to grind CH. i started off huntiing voritor hunters at 758 xp each until i was 2211 then i did the afk thing with the meatlumps in coronet I made my pet guard me then i aggrod an npc using no weapon (im matserbrawler but no tka so i did about 100dmg every 2 or 2.5 secs) and got some great money/loot and CH xp until i got 3322 then i went to the geo caves and in under an hour i mastered
