Cool, thanks for the replies guys. I miss my old pet mereks, so I think I may just have to revive them! Out of curiousity, anyone happen to have any thoughts/experiances as a MBH/MCH these days, or you think it would be best to master an individual weapon type instead?

Anyways, thx.

I'm playing MBH/MCH/Medic 0400 and really liking it so far. I don't pvp just pve though, so probably someone else can answer that part of the template better than I.

I think pets arn't so hot against top notch PVPers but they are pretty effective against new folks or more casual PVP types. They guys that have the best of everything can simply kill them a bit too fast. But I wouldn't say they were useless, especialy in a large battle.

Hi-

I am an oldschool mch from back in the ol 3 rancor days(not that you needed mch to pull 3 rancors! lol), and I am thinking of coming back to the game after an absense and have been thinking of picking up CH again. I know alot of people seem upset with new system, but I always had fun as a ch before and have just been thinking of playing around again and just had a couple questions:

1)Someone told me that even as a full template mch, say mch/mbh or mch/mr that you wont reach a CL80 on you character, is that true? What level do you reach?

2)Anyone know if CH is any more viable in pvp that it used to be? I mean before pets were nothing but fresh meat to other players really, and if I was to give up my nice template Id prefer to still have some pvp skill at least.

Anyways, any help would be appreciated. I have my last respec token to use, so I was just thinking of going back to the old days and see if it was any fun again.

thanks.

My current template is MCH/TKM and I'm cl 80.

Post CU I can't tank like I used to be able to but I still am capable of doing just about anything in game that I choose to. That being said I can't solo a lot of the higher end content but if I could I wouldn't be playing a MMORPG.

Hope that answered some of your questions.

BTW, for me the jury is still out on the latest CH patch.

Hi Arbee10,

  1. I'm a Master Creature Handler / Master Ranger with Marksman 4/2/1/4 and am a CL80. Not sure what I would be without the Marksman skills, but I think it would still be CL80.

  2. Dunno yet if CH is any good in PvP. I try not to PvP because I'm lousy at it.

Hope that helps.

After reading about some of the pet abilities that add defensive characteristics, they might give a player a bit more of a tussle. I dunno if they will really make a ton of difference in a fight, but it would be interesting to check out.

Pets can help apply states, for example. So even though they dont do a ton of damage, they can help in other ways while the MBH lays the hammer down.

PvP using pets should get better. It is going to depend on what specials both you and your pets have and the template of you and your opponent. For example. If you go against a melee player and you have 3 pets with ranged and the root and snare specials you will be able to move your pets out of attack range of your opponent. If you are ranged and also have these specials then I think you will be able to add them and slow the movement of your opponent even more. CH is going to become a highly skilled profession. CH will have available every special attack special in the game (not talking about jedi specials). This will means you will have to custom build your pet teams for the battle tatics you wish to use.

One of my alts is MCH/MasterDoc, and one is MCH/MasterSwords, both CL80. Both are great templates, but they are good in groups--not on their own. Fortunately, "group" is translated as a partnership with my significant other who is a MBH/Master Pistoleer for the doc and a MasterDoc/MCM for the MasterSwords. Those two combos can take on just about anything together! With the pets thrown into the mix, the two of us have gone everywhere on Kashyyyk by ourselves and everywhere else we have wanted. No problems. I would heartily recommend it.

I think the new changes in the CH will be good, if things work out the way they have been presented. Sounds like we will be able to construct pets to spec. ATM I am having a heck of a time finding wild lairs and babies in the wild on Talus, where I am searching for a Sludge Panther babe.

I too have returned to the game for a short time to see what has been done for the CH.

Anything I sould be aware of that's not listed in recent patch notes? I hope space isn't sitll a PvP dead zone and a PvE bore.

I look forward to a trial run, I hope I don't have to leave again.

I am MCH/MBH/NCM

Jury still out for me on the new system.....All of this xp grinding just seems like a desperate attempt to keep all of us paying our $15 for just a few more months until we figure out that the new changes are all broken anyway.

Right now I amgood PvE.

PvP?...not sure if PvP is worth it to anyone unless you have a ton of Jedi on your side

PvP Vs Jedi (one on one).....The pets are good for surprise on novice Jedi but against full template they are just there to watch me go down fast.

If you are an OLD school CH you will probably still be very unhappy with the current state.

I am REALLY hoping these new specials will make a big difference in PvP but there are still a ton of Bugs that make PvP with pets very difficult...here are a few...

1. Cant keep up.....to me this is one of the most important issues...it is very silly that my reptilian flier gets lost behind while I run with full gear and weapon in hand!

2. Pathing.....pet pathing is very annoying and pets end up in some very strange spots

3. Not listening.....pets that run off or get stuck in one action are useless....this happens to me daily.

4. Call Timers - Try grouping with a bunch of Jedi and convince them that they have to wait for you to get your pets out before starting....most groups these days can take down a lair before I can call my pets.

anyway ...hope this input is useful......sorry to be negative.

I really want this profession to work!!!
