Ive found that just using the train command from the radial menu will let you train the abilities that you already know. I had type /trainpet, then select what ability i wanted to train. This will also show you what abilities you have learned so far.

If Pet A has an ability, and you fight with it, eventually you'll learn that ability from Pet A.
In turn, if then you level up Pet B until he has a free ability slot and the appropriate number of training points, you can then teach Pet B the ability you learned from Pet A.

Short answer: Yes
Long answer: If you find a baby with an ability and take it hunting, you will eventually "learn" the ability from the pet. You can then /train the ability to one of your other pets.

Can a CH /trainPet an ability to someone else's pet when targetted? Can a CH learn a new ability from a pet that someone else trained onto it?

u can only learn an ability from a pet that either u tamed yourself or that u get from another CH who never used it in fights. as soon as it gets XP only the master at that time can learn the ability.
and remember to teach a pet a level 2 or 3 ability it must have this ability in the lower level already. so to teach agression 2 your pet must have either agression 1 as innate ability or u have to teach it agression 1 before u teach agression 2.
i guess if the pet has enough training points and free ability slots u can hand it to another CH and let him train an ability (but not sure about this). but u cannot learn this ability from the pet after u get it back, as u can only learn innate abilities the pet already had when u tamed it.
