I remember a dev note about this (and maybe gameplay) before the hidden xp values when in, I think with the CH special changes. I know after everything was hidden we did not get it.

I cannot remember clearly enough to state with 100% certainty we did see it in game, but I want to say it was for a short while. I made a thread on it as well, but no one responded.

You don't get combat XP for fighting with pets.

Easy way to check this:

Monitor your combat spam.

Fight one mob just with a pet (easiest to do in a grinding group)

Fight one mob just with your weapon of choice, no pets.

See if you get the "you earned combat experience" message in the combat spam.

If you fight with both pets AND weapons, you'll get combat XP, but as 10% of the weapons XP. The total XP will be divided proportionally between the damage done by the weapon, and the damage done by the pet. Try it with multiple weapons...take a shot with a pistol, then with a carbine, then with a rilfe. You'll get weapons XP proportionally to the damage done by each weapon. Combat XP will be based on the weapon XP total, the pets don't count for combat XP.

Since the FS conversion nerf, this is no longer as crucial as it was...in a full grind session to max out pistols, the weapons XP itself is far more valuable than the combat XP now.

Yeah, we know we don't get combat xp. For most of the game we haven't.

But for a short while (maybe Publish 21 until the xp changes in 22?), we might have. I specifically remember a dev post from that time mentioning something about us getting combat xp, too. The post was vague and cryptic and with so much activity lately, I haven't been able to find it again.
