Thread: Any Tips For Novice CH
Welcome to the greatest profession in SWG. ![]()
Sounds like you are doing fine, all you can do is tame and train everything you see. There is a cycle for all of us, now it involves the new skills but basically it is still the same.
Gather what you can, level up then tame the the highest level pet you can, probably better to go for non vicious to begin with so babes around adults who are yellow. Once you get into a rhythm it will not take you long. If you want faster xp join a good group hunt, but you will probably find that you will want to tame and train solo or with a couple of friends, just use large groups for leveling.
I would suggest leveling up something like 1111 first and then either the second row or fourth to max so you have 1414, then sort the others out. This will give you better storage and ability to mount pets, after that probably best to do first row to improve your vicious taming skill, but this isn't absolutely neccassary as their are always non vicious things to tame on most planets.
As for anything else, all these helpful folk on forums will help. Just have fun with it.

This is pretty good advice, although a little different from how I'm leveling.
When in doubt, get more commands. At lower levels of CH, you're probably going to be getting mostof your CH xp from taming-> training-> releasing animals. The more commands you can train, the more CH xp you get for each pet. Your first box after Novice should probably be Management 1. Being able to "group" with your pets means you can take them into combat against mobs of your level and have them contribute something other than 5-10 damage per hit. The more damage your pets do to a mob, the bigger the "share" of CH xp you get for the kill.
Whenever you learn a new command, go through all the pets in your datapad and teach it to them. It may not be a lot, but it's something, and it's easy to do. And never release a pet with open ability slots. Train it a triggered ability, then teach the voice command for an more easy xp.
With that being said, I wouldn't completely ignore the Taming branch. Getting the bonus to tame vicious creatures widens the variety of creatures you can tame. Oh, and try to get your hands on some +25 Taming Wild / +25 Taming Vicious enhanced clothes (at least one type of pants can be made with that total bonus in one piece of clothing). BEs make the tissues for these, so they won't be as insanely expensive as SEAs. I'm not sure if BEs / Tailors are still having problems with enhanced clothes, though, I heardsome problems cropped up with publish 21 / 22. With the clothing, you can attempt to tame aggro creatures even as a Novice CH (although the tames do fail more often then non-aggro, and there's a larger chance of the baby turning on you if you fail).

Im at cl 54 right now and ive been using a lvl 13 horse-dog-goat lama looking thing sense I could tame it. I have 2 pets with abilities both know the others ability, My question is does the pet level effect the xp gain at all? my lama is 13 but i also have a 15 tusk cat
