Thread: Pet Weapon Hinderance?

So I'm running around killing with my blurrg baby to try and learn Precision Strike L2 when I realize that he has the same icon under his name in my group window for weapon hinderance as I do when I have my pistol equipped.

This doesn't make sense to me o_O I don't have my pistol equipped at all, either, but my pet can have weapon hinderance? Since when do blurrg babies carry around firearms?

Hopefully I'm just missing something here, lol... anyone else seen this before?

Pets can have a ranged attack and when they do they get the "ranged weapon hindrance" on their bar..

I've noticed that too in a few of my pets that use a ranged attack :-/ Maybe a ranged attack is considered a weapon of some sort and this gives hindrance?

Interesting! And good to know. Though I don't remember seeing my savage humbaba baby that had a ranged attack have that icon. Then again, maybe I just missed it.

Kinda strange since there is no physical weapon a pet carries to weigh it down and cause hinderance like I can see it does for us, but interesting all the same... thanks for the replies!

I was going to post a message about this, I guess others have noticed the bizarre "design feature". If you turn Ranged Attack on, the pet runs around with the weapon hindrance icon (even when not in battle). If you turn Range Attack off, the icon goes away.

Yup, I long suspected that the pets are too dumb to walk and spit at the same time. This proves it.

This also happends with the combat probot droid. Which, I feel, IS COMPLETELY STUPID!!!
The Devs need to fix this.

Pets actually have 2 weapons in their "inventory" a meele and a ranged weapon. A few patch notes ago a fix was listedas "Fixed an issue that sometimes caused pets to lose their ranged weapons when incapicated". As far as I can tell when a pet swaps over to ranged attack mode it actually "equips" the ranged weapon and thus gets the weapon hinderance. This is more than likely just a display bug becauseI havent noticed a speed reduction in my petswhile the pet is moving with the weapon hinderanceicon, but then again I havent really been paying attention. More testing will have to be doen to determine if a speed reduction is actually being applied.

I haven't noticed a significant speed difference, although I haven't done any formal testing. If toggling the ranged attack on does cause this, the speed tests done with Fleet-Footed could be used to see if it really causes a hinderance.

I agree. I understand why WE have weapon hinderance that slows us down... when you're carrying a firearm, it will weigh us down and cause us to slow down, thus hindering our move speed. But a pet? A probot droid? Come on... they're not carrying around a rifle that weighs them down...

I suspect this is "feature" rather than a bug.

I've noticed that the icon also appears under mobs that are attacking me with ranged weapons (a particular favourite of spiders).

Basically all it seems to do is indicate that the creature is using a ranged weapon rather than melee.
