Thread: Is CH an effective profession anymore for pvp?

Just wondering if CH is anygood in pvp anymore. I was a MCH and Master Swordsman for months and back then before the revamp and creature balance CH used to kick major butt in pvp. Just wondering how they fare now, i assume not so well since the number of CH has significantly dwindled since i was a CH and also since all melee's got damage mitigation and they removed the rifle melee damage penalty. Back then i used to put riflemen in check.

Anyways I havnt played CH in a while but i really enjoyed it back then. Well i have a bunch of skill points freed up now and trying to decide what profession to pick up so are CH any good anymore?

That's about the state of things. CH is pretty much a joke when it comes to PVP, and barely functional for PVE.

pets are good in pvp.....IF you and your pet are very strong and your opponent is unbuffed and unarmored :/

currently, CH isnt an effective profession FOR ANYTHING

and as for the previous posters reamrks on beating the tka, is sounds like YOU beat the tka, not you and your pet...if he was buffed and had armor he probably didnt even notice your pet, i know i wouldnt have....

A small (very small), fast, hard to target pet with a powerful ranged attack and intimidate can be useful in PvP, but as other posters mentioned, you can't really rely on the pet, you have to pretty much win the fight yourself. Think of the pet as a little extra free damage.

Most encounters don't really last long enough for pet poison or disease to be of any use other than to annoy the victor. The knockdown + dizzy combo would be great if pet commands worked better, but currently you have to use a kludged up macro to make them work.

The one exception to this rule could be themantigrue screecher. If you can manage to get a mantigrue screecher to fire off its area disease special, it can really put a hurt on players in a hurry. Its a massive disease attack.

Not really.

unless of course if you get one of the two rare pets with plauge strike

Amac on shadowfire has a screecher, and let me tell you, people leave that thing the fudge alone in pvp.

I've been looking for a bull rancor baby since rares were re-introduced..no luck yet, but I am hopefull, and I will continue to try.

another thing I have had some success with is a CL 70 BE pet, one with 13-14K ham,500-600 damage, a range of 60-100% Special protection, and a Crippling strike/Dizzy strike combo.

Of course dizzyrarely sticks to any melee professions, (or pistoleer)

Crippling strike seems to intimidate, with a small chance to KD.

But if it works (SMALL chance) then person on the reciving end doesn't have much of a choice but to lay down and die,

Anyways.

I'm going to keep CH until I get a bull rancor, and a master TKA kills him and myself in 30 seconds, then I give up CH and join the TKA gimps.

CH can still be effective in PVP, but you have to have another combat skill and play smart. When I first started PVP, I was getting the KD/Dizzy all the time. Then I figured out that there are defenses for that. I carry around BE enhanced foods that give me a +76 defense vs KD and Dizzy, and have armor attachments that give me an additional +4 KD defense. Add a welled timed Muon boost, and plenty of eyeshots from my scatter pistol, and a couple doses of 440 Stim Bs and you'll be fine. My last 5 duels against TKA Masters I am 4 for 5. Oh and a set of 80% Konetic Comp armor doesn't hurt either.

Here is something to try.

Our role in PvP is possibly factional base take-overs

I sent 1 rancor into the NPC's at a base and they ran every direction trying to avoid it as they shoot wildly.. then the rest of the team can g in freely as those NPC's are running around insanly.

Now what i would like to see is 4 or 5 MCH's send in thier top BE pet (or wild) to take out the support at a base.. of course youll still need commando and rifleman for turrets.. but the creatures can take to on-comming fire for a few.

I am thinking about making a CH guild myself just to see what a group of MCH's can do in PvP as a team rather then solo.

TAME: Tactical Animal Managment Enforcers... hmm ok no one steal that ..thanks.
