I read this recently as it is a new news post
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=in_live&message.id=43271
a lot of the things on here I feel affect the CH profession
namely these remarks
"I should not be able to solo Gnarled Rancors by myself"
"it would be fine if the game got back to group playing again no more soloing high lvl mobs"
"every movie and book I've read has had primarily ranged combat"
"Moving away from "Melee-Centrism"
I'm a tka master ch master so u can see why the comments above worried me about my melee skills maybe not being as important and also the fact that I myself like to jump on swg on my own and if they make rancors harder to solo which seems VERY likely it is going to be very difficult for people like myself to obtain the larger more dangerous pets. I dont know what you guys can take from the link above but i would be interested to hear your comments. I feel bio engies will become more popular if these changes happen and alos the elusive bull rancors will become even more elusive due to the fact ch's will have to group up with people to go and hunt them. I know i"m jumping the gun a bit here but I would like to hear a few senior ch master comments on the possible future changes that are heavily hinted at in this article.

This is rather vague stuff.....
I am unable to dig up a URL right now, but TH stated that CH is a combat profession and will be part of the CU as well.
Other that that, we will just have to see what the CU brings and hope it doesn't re-introduce the massive time sinks that were once part of the game. Time-sinks should be outlawed!

People were getting Rancors back within the first month of this game before Buffs and armor it can be done because peopel did it back then with little to no armor and zero buffs

Yes, I was one of those doing Rancors before buffs and in Mawbari Armor. It was the best available at the time. Yes, it did require a little skill but you have to remember that the pets I had at my disposal were alot better than they are today. Medic skills helped alot and you were always buying Stims. The plus side was that Rancors were truly feared in PVP then. If you were not careful you died but a healself hotkey helped alot.

Unbuffed taming of pets shouldn't be too difficult. It can be done I'm sure with high mask scent and quite a bit of skill. If the above is true though, one of two things are going to happen (both of which would be good for CH I'd imagine). One, they would either have to raise the difficulty level of creatures like rancors (not likely but it would make our pets more powerful) or two, they would have to lower the effectiveness of combat professions (more likely to happen which in turn would still make our pets not stronger but more effective).
I used to play (still pay for my accts) Ultima Online. After 5 yrs of the same combat engine they finally decided to do a complete revamp of there combat system which included not only the way the engine worked itself but everything that touched that engine including weapons, armor, spells ect...
It became a whole new game after that upgrade and it took a good 6mo before everyone figured out how to get the best of everything again but it really helped breath new life into the game and not only that but it made it so not those two specific classes in the game were the cookie cutter PvP rulers anymore. It really evened out all of the classes truley giving Pluses and minuses to every class in the game.
I REALLY hope that SOE doesn't botch this up and makes the game much like UO turned out to become where every little thing you did made a differance in your overall combat outcome and there wasnt just one or two uber templates anymore but all of them were viable depending on the situation.

to be fair, if luk had a t21 the rancor would not have lasted that long. Now they shoul dhave been much tougher than they are now, but not overly done like a krayt or anything.

well I call TH Chicken little now
"the CU is comming the CU is comming"
Basically untill I see a beta server for the CU up I am not even gonna bother with it. After a year at tilting nonexistant windmils I want to at least wait till they put the windmil up.
BTW nice sig Ekaw
