So I spent years searching for the collection and I ask you, is an arachne widow worth a crap? If it was tamed pre curb, should I delete it or will it learn these new specials?
Does plague strike still exist or did they remove the venom sacks from my screecher?
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Seems post-CU that all the pets are about the same. The only way to make them "different" is to teach them different abilities that will set them apart. Basically all the pets (even those rares) are the same as any other, with nothing very special (except maybe an AOE in some cases) to set them apart besides sentimental feelings of how they used to be in their glory days. The rares are still rare to find, but not impossible, and once you do find them they're comparable with any other pet their level.
If it was tamed pre-CU, there is hope. If it is above a CL70 or has more than 499 natural damage, it will not be callable/useable, however. You can try and see if you can have its stats adjusted by the system when you try tocall it, but more often than not I hear that most pre-CU tamed pets were deemed unuseable when they were adjusted. They will also lose any cool things like poison/disease if they had it. If your pet survives the stat adjustment and is CL70 or below and 499 damage or less, congratulations... you're one of the lucky ones. You should still be able to level it in maturity and unlock ability slots for it like any post-CU pet so that you can later teach it abilities.
Things like poison/disease were removed from not only our pets, but from the game. So your screecher will not have this ability anymore ![]()
Hope that answers your questions- sorry to be the bearer of bad news ![]()
I am in the same boat, so I am slowly replacing my old rares with current versions that have an inate ability.
It was a hard decision but makes more sence in the long run. But I refuse to give up my Swamp Stalker he was my first and favorite rare (not that rare lol) so I will be training him to be the best he can be.

If the can still learn abilities, why replace them? Just grind the xp. All of my rare pets survived, the window, the screecher, the gaping spider queen.
Also, I still have pretty awesome level 69 and 70 be pets that survuved. Am I right in thinking that they can learn new abilities? They are TOUGH to this day.
A high level creature with an innate ability has quite an advantage over one without an ability, especially if its a L3 ability.
Add that to the fact that any pets that you had pre-Pub will have 1 less ability slot than new ones (who knows why....) and the incentive to get a new one with an ability is pretty good.
