Congradulations on your achievement now you get to really start the Grind;The rancors you are seeing are propably mission spawns Regular old Vanilla rancors or level 50.Bull rancors are 65,Look for lairs with a Bull ,Youth and a reg.Rancor should be a Pile of Rocks.As far as pet rollovers it varies per level so just keep on grinding till it caps out and says fully trained.I don't think exp are split between you and your pet but I do think it does with more than 1 out at a time.So always let your pets munch on the lairs,the more they do the more exp they get so try to group with folks who don't need combat exp and when tapping use low level attack and dmg weapon save as much of the lair for your pet as possiable.

I've seen lots of level 50 / 65 rancor lairsaround the area between the labor outpost and the sarlac.

With pet xp, as long as your pet gets a hit in it will get full training xp regardless of whether you shoot at it or not. With 2 pets out they split the xp between them.

Really? Didn't know the pets split their exp ... oops, that would have changed my pet levelling routine of the last few days quite a bit

And to the OP, rancors come in several flavors ... the tameable ones have already been described above, the CL79+ ones are either from mission lairs (recognizable by the animal name in the lair name), or they are Nightsister Rancors, or Ancient Rancors, both of which are too high to be tameable.
