Hi all...

after two weeks cruising round endor looking for a webmaster baby (found 2, but both despawned), ive now come to tapping lairs to try and force the spawn a little....

problem is...I dont really know what the best way to tap lairs is - any what the do/ dont are...

can we start a thread with the do/ donts for tapping lairs plse?

for example...

(1) once you attack - whats the best way to peace out without the spawn resetting (and you losing that baby)?

(2) is there a max number of critters round a lair that means no further critters will spawn whatever damage you do to the lair?

(3) is it better to tap a lair consisting of ONLY the type of creature you want (for example - webmasters only) - or would a webmaster (for example) spawn from ANY arachne lair? - whats the best type?

Im sure there are lots of us out there who can learn from the experiences of other MCHs - can I ask for some help in finding my webmaster plse....

(on another point - ive been looking for so long, I almost tamed my second screecher today - failed and got the plague strike beating - are there any foods that I can use to emporarily boost by taming to help with these tough tames - I'm already MCh with a +25 taming headdress...)

cheers all...let the knowledge/ experiences flow....

oh...and do baies ever spawn on the first 'tap' of the lair - or do you have to wade through killing stuff?

Fire once an immediately peace out and wait, the mobs will spawn. Make sure you wait till all have spawned, so count before you attack first group.

After that wave, you'll need to get the lair to 50% for the next wave and wait for that spawn.

Babies can be present on any of the spawns.

Ok.

You pull up to the lair and you see the first set of spawns out. Kill them and/or tame what babies may be out.

Shoot the lair. Usually once or twice with a normal weapon then peace out. Something that helps is standing 60 meters not matter whether you use pistol, carb or rifle. After firing the first shot start running out of range.KEEP HITTING PEACE. Tame babies kill parents.

For the third and final spawn it is harder too judge. Again standing at 60 meters gives the best advantage. If you shoot one too many times and the first one is a baby you have time to try to burst run out of range. BUT KEEP HITTING PEACE. Tame babies, kill parents.

Now you can exploit the lair by running out of range often. Usually 80-100 meters for a minute will reset the lair. I only use this when hunting babies, otherwise i use the standard 3 spawns collect my money and move on. Time/Payout=profit. A good day can give somewhere between 200-500K using the kill it quick method. And let me disclaimer that. Nothing dies quicker than siccing pets on the lair and having them continuously pound it while you spam fanshot. BE pets really work best for this method. Lairs die much quicker than waiting for one spawn at a time.

does the 'run 80-100 metres and wair for the alir to respawn' method actuallt create a NEW spawn? - ie; if you get 3 blurrgs on teh first lair (for example) -run away and the laid resets - might you get 2 blurrgs and a blurrg baby the time you run back to it? - or does the lair remember its default spawn?

It's a new spawn. There's also a limit for how many times you can do this before the lair despawns permanently.

The really cool part is if a baby spawns on the first set there is almost always a baby on the second (for non-rares). Even if you jsut sit around and wait without running out of range you can get 5-8 spawns from a lair. More time consuming but if you are only hunting babies really helpful to know that you do not need to TAP the lair at all just sit down, heal wait a while (maybe take a bio break while waiting). Come back and see what is up.

Tivo and the other professional baby hunters might be more able to give you more details. I am a profit, and occassionaly hide hunter. When I see a Frenzied Lair I usually get 5-8 by not shooting until I am almost certain that nothing will spawn on its own.

Yup. Don't see a baby first time, and don't have the combat power needed to take out the adults to go through the tap process? I hop on the speeder, head out 150m or so, and come back. Often the spawn will change and a baby will magically appear. This is how I got my fambaa the first night fambaa babies spawned.

As for what type of lair to find webmasters, I got my first webmaster while working on a lair that had only arachne warriors showing. I was actually trying to get a warrior to spawn - wasn't even thinking webmaster LOL. I stumbled across my 2nd webmaster at another lair with arachne warriors except this time the webmaster babyhad already spawned (that is, I didn't do anything to get it to spawn). So, the lair doesn't have to have an adult webmaster showing in order to get one to spawn, but I believe that, at the very least, arachne warriors should be present.

And now for how to tap without killing the spawn.

I do not have the ability or desire when baby hunting to kill the adults. I don't want to pull my pets to do it and my combat skills are still being developed. I also am hunting for babies that are all over CL40 and many over CL50.

So, that being said...

Find a lair that has a number of spawned creatures that is higher than you usually see. For example, if you usually see a lair that has 3 creatures spawned, if you see one with 4, tap it. Not that the 3 won't work, but it is a higher likelihood you will get a baby (and higher level type baby that the lair is capable of spawning), on a higher level lair (one with a higher number of creatures), than on a lower level lair. IMO - disagree if you like, but this is my experience.

THEN: Get 65 meters away (your max range can be further if you have a weapon that has an attachment - just thought of that). Tap the lair by shooting it followed by immediate Peace. Jump on your speederbike and haul buttox (unless you are not aggroed because the spawn has wandered off). Go in a straight line away from the lair, pulling the aggroed creatures with you. Once out to about 200 meters, you can start to do a big loop. (I find that you should not go more than 300 meters from the lair because it is hard to get back to it before it despawns) Keep using peace - As soon as the combat drops, circle around and come back to the lair as fast as possible by skirting to the side of the red cons that were chasing you. The reason for this is that you will likely have lost your mask scent and are susceptible to getting another aggro. Come to the closest distance you feel you can to the lair and hop off the bike and mask scent again (you can do it sooner if you don't have to go too far to get the aggro to drop in the initial chase). If you are less than 100 meters and select the lair, you can watch the spawn pop out. You will get one spawn up to the total number of creatures the lair created initially (e.g. a lair that upon first sight had 2 creatures will spawn 2 when you tap it, 3 will get you 3, and so on). Also, watch the lair for taking damage, as a spawn will occur each time the lair shows a damage taking place.

Now, it is desirable to take the lair down to 1/2 and 1/8 or so. All lairs will spawn again at 1/2 in the same manner as above. With about 1/8 left, some lairs will have a super spawn of multiple creatures at once, all of which will want to kill you. My first experience with the super spawn was with Mereks. A King, Queen, and 2 TMB all spawned at one time and were kind enough to only incapme in about 3 seconds (I was too slowgetting on my bike). I've never seen a baby come from one of these superspawns, I would guess it is a good chance for a high level baby to spawn.

However, getting a creature to allow you to kill their lair is not always possible. Often, even if they are too far away, they will come running, heal the lair, then come after you (as I said before, I'm not good at the combat side and don't use my pets while taming). In that case I do the lair reset method with a small twist. I look for a nearby lair to the one I'm working on that also spawns a desirable baby and I just go back and forth between them. While one resets I tap the other, then switch, do it again, switch....

This is how an animal rights tamer would do it. No creatures are hurt during the process and the only person in any real danger is the player. I have a few more tricks that I've learned, but this is a real good start and the 'tricks' will become obvious as you do this several times. Hope this helps.

third spawn is not at 50% but at 2/3 (66.6%).

(you could call this second spawn because the first oneare the ones that are already out)

and dont shoot a lair 'once or twice' , shootonce. Use a macro if you have to.

and in my experience spamming peace doesn't do anything as long as you peace before you start taming and after every shot.
