Yes, I know. Having to look forever for a decent pet sucks (and seeing a Rhoa Kwi Pack Leader Baby before you can tame it really sucks).

But anyhow, I was wondering - those of you who have managed to both find and tame an arachne widow, would you mind giving me some tips? I've found at least 20 lairs with lots of widows and queens around, and tapped them (just once, then hopped on my bike and ran) with no babies forthcoming. Do I have to tap it a second time to get babies? I hope not, as I wouldn't have a chance at being able to even kill one queen/widow, even with my pets, since I'm a wookiee (and my combat skills in pistoleer don't seem as strong as they ought to).

Any help's appreciated.

ya im with ya, every time i come across a lair, i use 2 two pets(very nasty poison)to finishthe initial 3 spawns, first tap never seems to spawn a baby. I would probably have to go thru 5-6 pets to finish one of those lairs...which will come close to finishing my game session for awhile. Im betting they do show on the 2nd tap. Has anyone ever gotten a baby to spawn if the original 3 spawns walk far enough away from the lair?

I have worked around 20 widow/queen lairs down to destruction and have yet to have a baby widow spawn. Thankfully, I got one from another MCH friend a couple of weeks ago.

my buddy took like 2 month to finally find one....
seems to be one of the rarest of the rare pets, at that time he already had like 3 pack leaders and 2 mantrigue screetchers...

Been taking down lairs for the last couple days, no sign of a baby. One lair tonight had 3 widows and a queen. That one took a while to finish.

I have come to the conclusion if you don't go out looking for a specific pet you will run across it sooner then if you activly seek it. It's like when you loose a sock. You search all day for the sock and can't find it. Couple days latter you drop your unopened beer on the floor and the dang think rolls right to your sock.

Just walk around the planet. Sooner or later you will find one. Aint worth getting heartburn or stress over it.

Greetings,

I have seen 5 Widow babies to date, with three successful tames. All of the babies I have come across spawned from lairs with a Queen and two Widows. Reagrdless, since these tend to be the most common lair type for these arachne, my experience may have just been coincidental. I milked nearly every lair I came across. The only time I did not was when I was assisting Daka in his search for lairs.

Obviously BE taming and maskscent clothes will help, but not cure the problem of being attacked by the youngster. My strategy is to of course maskscent first, and approach slowly. If you're mask is broken, back off and reapply. If I can, I try to wait long enough for the Queen to distance herself from the pack. Her poison spray will often cause the baby to aggro her. Most babies tend to stay near a "parent", so close quarters must always be a consideration.

Most importantly for me, and I tend to forget this on occasion, equip a very wimpy weapon. I prefer my old stone knife. As a TK, even unhanded with no weapon will kill a baby easily.

Other than that, just keep your wits about you and don't let the excitement make you careless. Keep your burstrun and peace buttons handy, not necessarily in that order.

From myexperience I have found 3 widows and u never get them from the first tap of lair. You need to be able to effectively take these down and take down the entire spawn since the spawns themselves are not easy to find. Each spawn gives you a baby chance and thats the way you have to view the rare hunt because you really do get a chance for each spawn u find.

Sounds like you need some fighting skills to go with ch otherwise you will never effectively hunt the rares. When u can solo them with out anyones help other then pets u know u are ready to start taking down these lairs.

Ive completed 7 complete lairs so far and no babies. The thing that gets me is that the spawns work differently then mission lairs where you can kill the critters that are out and then get 2 additional same # spawns. These just keep coming and coming - I get most of the entire number of creatures before I hit the lair at all - probably get 3 queens and 6 widows before I hit the lair once.

I am doing Screecher missions while Im out looking for Queem/Widow lairs and have tamed 2 screechers so far - in 3 days of solid hunting. Master Carbine halps a lot cause I can pull the bug ones one at a time and kill them pretty quickly with my pets tanking and keeping the monsters off me.

I think that the widow babies are about as rare as you get - the bull rancor babies also being very scarce.

I guess I can keep getting screecher babies while I hunt for a widow baby....
