And now I think I will drop it completely.

The new pet system is GREAT in theory and horrible in implementation. Kinda like the game as a whole. So much promise, and so much let down.

I have been learning new abilities left and right since the change ( I was a novice before the changes went live) and while I think they are great additions, the "pet grind" is atrocious. The rate at which you learn a special from a pet is atrocious. The rate at which high level pets gain ability slots is also atrocious.

I have had a Lantern Bird with hamstring attack that I have used pretty much exclusively while grinding CH (since I was able to tame it that is ) and I use it when I am levelling up the bounty hunter tree as well. I have had this pet for about week and have yet to learn the ability from it. Ridiculous.

Thinking CH just ain't for me with the new "grind" in place. At this rate, It will take several more months before I get a pet remotely close to being as effective as any other master elite prof's weapon...that they can just go buy from a weaponsmith or do an easy quest to get.

Sorry for the rant but it is blowing my mind how much of this game is un-fun.

The system just went live, I don't think its unreasonable to expect some problems like. It might be unreasonable to expect SOE to fix them but I think I would suggest waiting to see what they do in the next patch or two first. There have been a lot of complaints concerning the learning rate and the pet leveling process, so that may receive a tweak that makes it more bearable. I would only switch if you decide that you don't enjoy playing the class now that you are at Master.

While its true other classes can just go buy their weapons off the shelf so to speak, they also can't tweak them to work the way they want in the same manner, they can't add new specials to them, they can't differentiate them from other similiar weapons in any way beyond adding a pup. You can shape your weapon to be exactly what you want it to be in theory, and thats unique in the game.
