Thread: Whats wrong with my CH xp?
Ok, I think I'm with you so far.
I am cl76 and only have Novice CH so I'm using a cl12 pet. To get the best CH xp I need to group with the pet & attack mobs close to my own level. If I attack myself won't it split the total xp between my weapon's xp& CH xp? If so then the pet is barely going to be doing any damage & the xp will be split something like 90% weapon xp - 10% CH xp, correct?

Pretty much. I'm in the same boat, so I feel your pain. It may not be quite as bad as 90/10, when I was doing missions last night I think it was in the area of 80/20 (3000-ish weapon, 800-ish CH xp for CL 75 mobs). If you've got the patience for it, having your creature "solo" the lair gets you a good chunk of CH xp. This can be a little tricky when you're trying to get waves to "pop" from the lair, since pulling a pet away from a lair takes a couple repetitions of "/tellpet follow", telling it to attack a popped creature sometimes sends it back to the lair, and even if you get it onto a mob, it'll usually go back to attacking the lair even if you don't want it to.
If you've got the tanking skills, you might try using a lower-level weapon so your pet gets in a bigger chunk of the damage.
Right now, I've been getting the majority of my CH xp from taming babies. That might turn around once I get my "max pet level" up into the 30s, or once I can pull more than one pet at a time.

Ok, I'm catching on.
I took cl75 missions & grouped with the pet. I do have decent melee defense so I stood there tanking as long as I could, letting the pet get as much damage as possible. The best xp split I could get was about 60% weapon- 40% CH xp.
Also when not grouped with the pet & letting it attack creatures it's own level, I could use Intimidate on the creature to give my pet a better chance (Intimidate doesn't seem to do any damage) & just stand beside it healing. Only 1xp for CH this way tho ![]()
