Thread: My pet specials worked last night CONSISTANTLY!

YES! Last night on Yavin, I decided to start using my pet's specials again after weeks of inconsistent results. I don't know if anyone else is having this result, but at least my sludge panthers, grand wrixes and crimson razor cats all responded to each special command about every time! I've made a macro for each one, with "follow target" and then "special 1" or "special 2", and put them on my tool bar. Success! I have tried this all the time over the last several months, and last night was the first consistant success. I hope others are having the same experience.

It could be that this has been working for a while, and I just hadn't tried it lately. Can't wait to try the knockdown on my BE dewback. We shall see.

Yeah, I have been experimenting based on things I've read here on the CH board. The specials do seem to only work if the pet is (1) Not yet in combat mode, and (2) Almost in melee range with the target before you issue the command.

If I tell my mantigrue screecher to Follow Target to an enemy, wait until he gets close, and then start the battle off by calling for a Plague Strike... he'll use the Plague Strike every time.

I think that is crap! my tool bar is full, i want to be able to say, 1 in spatial and my pet goes in and uses his special. it should not be a huge thing. i just want to say one command and press enter and it does what i say, no follow him wait a few secs, and then special 1.

i want special 1 to be a combo in itself, follow him/attack use special

I want a remote control that both changes the television channel, shuts the curtains, turns on the kettle and answers the phone.

Unfortunately, this means that the specials still aren't working as advertised, doesn't it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't we supposed to be able to actually give the command and the critter does the special? For example, you would target the prey, have your pet use his special, target the next, use special, etc? Or have I completely misunderstood the specials.

There just seems to be something wrong with having to use a work around to get the results that should be pretty straight forward.

Then again, I could just be confused.

Oh yes, I definitely agree. The procedure I described above is more of a "workaround," and I think everyone stills considers these commands broken in their behavior.

Yes, I agree that they shouldn't work this way, but I'm glad that at least we can get them to work somehow.

I should also note that since my post, I've tried knockdown with my BE dewback. He hasn't knocked down a thing yet!

Nikazza, you can do this. Just create a macro that does all you say, and then create an alias that runs that macro. You can then use that alias to run it from the command line!

i just want a remote that changes the channel with the change channel button, not a secret combination of various unrelated buttons to press before actually pressing channel up.

That must be the flaw in the system, the specials are coded as "melee attack", take Intimidation as example, this attack be performed at 10/20m from a TKA but not from pet.

Seems a lot of us are using the specials more and more. I have been using the macros, and the pets are using he specials, but some do not seem to hit at all or very seldom. For example, A mountain dewback with dizzy and KD. I have yet to get the combo to work. Even in PvE against creatures, I can get a dizzy to stick, use my Carbineer KD (posture change really), and the creature gets right up. Still experimenting with it in PvE against NPC mobs before I try it in PvP.

Any thoughts?
