I am also relatively new to the profession of CH. Got it... Saturday night, been lurking here since.
Already have 1/1/0/1, thanks to my trusty Minor Sludge Panther[was a Cowardly Gurreck before the pet trade-in]. Have already tamed 2 wrixes[I literally drove all over Corellia for these kittens], and a Cowardly Gurreck[literally right between the two Endor outposts]. Not to mention my BE'd gurrcat(lvl 17) and jax(lvl 13), both with Dizzy! Complimenting my Carbineer knockdown, hehe!

I'm really enjoying this profession, along with Carbineer. My stance of "Screw Holocrons, this is a game, and about having fun!" has really kept me quite happy. And CH is really quite fun.

Welcome to CH!

It's fun, fun fun, even when you grind. Taming the babies, watching them grow, just watching them bat around a durni with their paws....

Congrats! Siobabble just said it best: It's fun, fun, fun.I've been CH for very long time and despite the probs with the profession, I still have lots of fun with it. So, guessthe pearl of wisdom I would leave is: Just have fun. (And read the boards - lots of good info here).

Welcome to the profession!

As a CH, you'll be doing far more exploring than you ever did in the past. I guarantee you that.

Creature Handling is a deep, personal pleasure filled with tense moments and heartpumping victories in the world of taming and training.

Many people take up CH for tanks on the side or simply because their Holo told them to, but I've been a CH for quite some time and I have no immediate plans of giving it up, either.

If there is any tip I can give you is, if you can spare the skillpoints, raise your Scent Masking ability by climbing in the Scout Profession or even Ranger for that matter, otherwise, invest in some well-made Bio-Engineered Clothing for Camo and Mask Scent Modifiers as well as Taming BE'd Clothing, if you can affored it.

This will increase your chances of a successful tame on the higher end and more viscious creatures as you raise the Taming and Training Branches of the Profession.

On a lesser note, CH will be a most useless profession in PvP Combat. Unless you've mastered another Elite Combat Class, I would keep CH on amission and hunting-based level.

Good Luck and Enjoy!

(most of the info you require on the profession can be found either here in the forums or stop by http://www.swgcreatures.com/)

I've been playing this game since early Oct '03. I have had so much fun. I mastered TK, Medic/Doctor, Artisan, Marksman(Holo), 1-1-4-1 Bio-Engineer(Holo-Dropped)....too much of a grind. The one cool thing about the BE profession is the introduction of CH to. I was making level 10 pets and using them to help me level up in Carbineer. I found using the pets was a great deal of fun and leveling in the Carbineer tree was advancing a heck of alot faster than I was as a BE.

I probably could have used the macro to help me grind the BE but, then....you don't learn anything. Anyway, I will leave the BE'ing to the people who are really serious about that profession.

Overall, by becoming a Master CH/Carbineer, I hope to be preparing myself for the Jedi quests in the upcoming publishes. I really want to be a Jedi and maybe soon I will be. I would have grinded the BE tree to become a Jedi but, when I saw that we no longer have to grind.....I was truly elated...Thanks SWG.

As far as the CH profession goes, I like it alot and I think you will enjoy it too. Please don't use your pets for PvP. Personally, I don't like PvP but, it adds a necessary element for those who need that kind of thing. If you want to see the Commandos burn your precious pet then by allmeans.....PvP on dude.
