Thread: Rune, Vert, and my great fellow CH's
I made a plea to this great community of CH's to hold off the flames. I had hoped there would come a point where you or Thunderheart might attempt to enter into a dialogue to find some common ground. I believe most of us feel that we are combat, true combat. I also feel that for no other reason the Dev's feel we are pure support. We do not buff people. Do not compare our pets trying to get agro to save someone as a buff. Buffs work 100% of the time. Pets do not. If your plan is to keep us pure support then we must have support capabilities. But first and foremost you must fix the bugs. And you must explain the timers. There is no rational way to even suggest that a CH can suprise someone pulling out a pet and at the same time condone people switching from pistol to LLC in combat. Unless..... one is to believe you do want us gone.
Vert,
I call for you to step down as Correspondent. I do not feel that you are doing us justice. You may be doing great work behind the scenes. Our community needs a leader or two. I do not want the job. There are more eloquent people, and maybe a few that have less a temper. Freth, taloncard, and Tivo spring to mind as possible candidates. I want someone active. I am sorry to bring this public. It is time for fresh blood and someone a little more enthusiastic and spirited. I want someone to report back what he has told the devs we feel. I want someone to report to the devs what we feel. I want someone to say they are frustrated. I want someone to say that the devs clearly understand that the devs realize that we are against any time do to it being unfair. Vert, be human not some shadowed wraith hidden in the dark.
My fellow CH's,
I apologize. It seems I may have been wrong. The devs clearly do not want to communicate. We recieved our attention in December. It is not our turn again for a long time. Chef and CH down, 29 more professions to go at an average of two months. That becomes 58 months from now, just shy of 6 years before anything beneficial may happen for our profession. I by no means believe that the hostilities should resume. I do call upon each and every one of you to /bug in game each and every time you have a legitimate malfunction. Every time a pet runs because it is dizzied in combat. About every time I fight pikets 4-5 times a lair. Maybe they will get the picture. Report every instance of autostoring. Every time I incap after my pet incaps and it stores, at least 1-2 times a day. Maybe they will get the picture. Make sure you send a CSR Ticket as well. Maybe they will then get the picture. Report it in forums detailed in such a way that even a blind man could get the picture. Then just maybe, after the monkeys stop flying out my tush, JUST MAYBE then they will get the picture. My CH friends there is noone greatly sadder and disgusted at myself for being convinced something more would happen. We got tossed a bone with a fix. One that created new problems and needed a fix. Which created yet another problem and yanno what I have not pulled out my mount to check if it is indeed fixed. But only because I have become complacent with being fixed last. But starting today, I will pull my mount out more often. To /bug it and to hope that someday and maybe somewhere over the rainbow that someone will spot them and say "hey you know, just maybe there is a problem with CH".
Flamers,
I did not ask to be uber. I did not ask to be restored to day 1 god status. I did not ask for any spoilers or game breaking secrets. I do ask that we be told our role. Even if it is not what I want to be. Then I can make the choice to stay or move on.
Thank you,
P9M
Are you the one-star coward? I know for a fact you posted shortly after I did. You have no defense, other than a mystery one star? While in other forums it is obvious that other correspondents have an opinion, you linger around and restate what everyone else has said. Do you have opinions? Novel ideas? Any concept or agenda? Please do not remain hidden forever.

On the topic of Vert. I think you and I expect the same things. A few more state of the professions and input. In his tone of the community (now deleted thread) he asked us to calm down and make better posts. Which I do agree with in part. I am not asking him to whine or cry, just be more active.

I didn't say I hate the man. I just don't think he did a good enough job. You can look back on the CH forum at countless posts. Vert just hasn't been there to communicate with the community actively like we feel he should've been. Part of that communication, I would hope, would be answers to our questions. Instead, many were ignored and there was no Vert in sight until he had something HE deemed necessary to make a thread about. Countless "state of the CH"-type threads and zero results speaks for itself. If I were the correspondent I would make sure the community knew where the CH profession stands (as the devs see it), even if it meant me being dropped as correspondent and even being banned from the game, I would tell you all the truth as best I know it. This "silent" treatment just doesn't cut it. It's like some big conspiracy that they can't answer the burning questions because they don't want us to know the real truth. The devsmay be the ultimate blame for our demise, but I blame Vert for not being honest and forthright with us about where this profession was going to go. Silence seems too convenientfor the devs and the correspondents.
They got what they wanted in the end... to let CH die its own death. It sure has.

Well Pluto I get to /disagree with you on this one...
Vertexon may not be the most inspired or verbose correspondent on SOE but the fault of the current state of the profession doesn't lie with him.
It first lies with the system as a whole. Correspondents are a very cute way for SOE to allegedly show interest in the community and save themselves having to pay CSRs to cover the forums or have devs spend a few hours a week on the forums. A conveniently cheap, yet unprofessionalsolution.
We only see a few posts from the paid "community relations" people and they don't seem to have any technical presence either. And occasionally a post from Runesabre, again more often than not a watered down PC answer.
I, as well as many others, have made point blank posts regarding bugs like autostore. And the silence from SOE on the subject is deafening. I can only conclude that they are unable to address the bugs. I'll grant that pets are complex objects to deal with, but at some point you grab the code by the horns and say if I can't fix it, I'm gonna make sure Iat least reverseit if it does happen. It's not the cleanest code in the world, but it gets you out of the jam you're in.

Vert's only as good as the tools he's given to work with, and I don't think SOE is giving him much of a hammer.
The fact that any of these correspondents allow SOE to make them their whipping boy doesn't speak well for the correspondents either. It urks me in the extreme that questions aren't answered. I pay these people a monthly fee. It's like paying the government taxes and yet they refuse to fess up to contact with extraterrestrials. (don't laugh, it's just an example). Then we find out much later that the extraterrestrials are real and the government kept it a secret all this time. I blame the devs for being so blatantly unresponsive about bugs they should've been able to fix a LONG time ago. Yet they can write code for new content like it's going out of style. Seems like a double standard to me. I blame the correspondents for being silent and not telling us the truth. They're just as bad as the devs, maybe worse, because they are supposed to be communicating with us. Even if they don't know the answers the least they could do is tell us. Do I sound mad? Do I sound frustrated? You bet. I'm sick of the run-around we've been getting since the beginning. Tell me the truth, don't patronize me with more official threads of empty promises. It's high incompetence in my opinion.

I haven't read everyone's reply to this, so maybe it's been said already...
but I'm pretty sure that I heard somewhere that Vert actually surrendered all his CH skills (except for Test Center) so maybe that explains why he's inactive and not very adversarial with the devs.
besides, I think the guy has a lot going on IRL... this is just a game, you can't expect him to treat this "correspondent" thing like it's a real job or anything... he doesn't get paid for this... you know?
What do you want from a correspondent anyway? someone who'll scream at the devs and make them understand our frustrations? someone who'll meet them on the TC and try to PROOVE how stupid some of the things they do are?
I mean, I dont know where you've been... but vertexon has never been antagonistic with the devs.
He's not that kind of guy.
