Ok, I must have been having the worst luck the first two days of hunting, which netted Zero pet abilities, but at last last night I trained 24 and got 5....yeah!!1

But I still am not sure, yes even having read all the info here, just how to learn the ability from my pet, I am using one to battle with for the xp and have turned it over so's that it says it has 1 ability available....anyone have any real detailed info about how you go about this?

To learn the ability from the pet you have to use the pet in combat. It's kind of a random thing as far as when you will learn it, but somewhere between 0-5 rollovers. PS Glad you finally found some pets with abilities.

I'm having the same issue. I've turned a pet 2x, and it says it has 1 level 1 ability available, but I can't figure out how to learn it. I thought it was a random event that appears on the screen notifying you that the ability was learned. I'm about to role the pet for the 3rd time and hope that does it.

Any tips would be appreciated.

So, if I hunt with that baby and roll over the xp a undetermined amount of times, I just get a system message that tells me that I have learned that ability, and that I don't need to find some secret menu to learn it from my pet, is that it?

That is correct. Fight with the pet that has the innate ability until you see the message telling you that you have learned that ability. Once you see that message you can use /train while having nothing targetted to see that you now have that ability to train other pets with.

Just remember that the pet has to have the ability when you tame the pet. Then you use that pet and as it gets XP you will eventtually learn the ability. You can check what abilities you have learned by untargeting everything (ESC key) and type /train
