I just noticed that I can't use /cover with pets out because I get the message "You are unable to hide yourself because something is close enough to see you" ... the "something" being my pet! I tested this and for sure it is the pet. I was hoping to be able to, for a couple of conceal shots at least, avoid the immediate agro of the creature. I'm wondering if this is "working as intended"? I was a Master CH a long time ago but gave it up (and always regretted it) and now have used the respec to get back into it. Even with all the "undocumented software features" (I hate to call them bugs
) I'm having more fun now!

Well, I also tried telling the pet to stay, I moved 60 meters away and went prone and covered just fine. But when I called the pet to me, as soon as it got close, cover was broken with the message "You have been discovered" ... darn! ... oh well ...

Yeah, I read that in the Rifleman forum. Cover only works if there's nothing within 60m of you (rifle range).
I've noticed that Sniper doesn't want to work sometimes, but I can't tell why. You'll get that click noise that indicates it failed.

Right now for Cover or Snipershot to work you must be on completely level flat ground. Very borked to say the least!
If you get Cover to work anything that gets within 20m of you will break the cover.
When Cover does work you can usually get 1 maybe 2 shots in before the target draws a beeline right to you and breaks cover.
What I do is send my pet in with the TRACK command then go prone in a Camp and use Cover/Conceal shot -OR- one Snipershot (because Snipershot was not designed to be used under Cover it breaks the Cover state).
Hope that helps you understand.

It looks like it's about 20m you need to stay away from things so you can cover. I tried this ... called a pet, told it to stay, moved 21m away (on flat ground), went prone and was able to cover no problem, told the pet to heel andit immediately broke my cover. Then I found some Pikets in a flat area, moved 64m away, called a pet, told it to stay, moved 21m away from the pet (to the side so when he attacked, he would never get closer than 20m to me and break my cover), went prone, covered, targeted a Piket 63m away, told the pet to follow, then when the pet got to the Piket I told it to attack (did the follow then attack 'cause I wanted the Piket to not charge the pet and stay 60m or so away from me), and lo and behold I got off a couple of conceal shots before the Piket broke from the pet andcame looking forme! A pain to set up but it's kinda fun figuring these things out
